Tactacam Reveal Cell Trail Camera....

For anyone looking I just walked out of the Cabela’s in Centerville with 2 of the Verizon models. They had 2 of the AT&T left and 4 or 5 of the Verizon left. I’ve been following along on this cam via the forum since the first model and always wanted one but they’ve always been out of stock. Finally I’ll get to give them a go!
Hopefully yours is as fun to run as mine have been.

Checklist:
Make sure you get the recommended SD card and batteries.
Watch YouTube videos on how to set it up and using the wifi connection to your phone. They don't provide much information on that so the videos are a big help.
Tighten the antenna well, to avoid moisture in the camera.

There are a few Reveal sites on FB where people bring their troubles with their cameras and those are some of the things I learned before setting them up.

I ordered 2 of the new tactacam solar panel charger/battery combo deal to try out. What reviews I found on them said they power the camera on there own without using the lithium AA’s, I’ll put lithiums in for backup and hope the solar panels work well. I’ve got the SD cards I need. I’m hoping to get them up this weekend but I’m so far behind this year it’s sad, still have some shooting lanes to touch up. Hell I just made it to my stands yesterday to check up on everything

Does anyone know if they sell the LiPo battery pack separate? I bought the SK and would like to have a back up battery. I’ve tried contacting customer service since Dec 6th and haven’t gotten a response.

Don't believe Tactacam sells an external battery but there are a few places that do. Herd 360 seems to be the go-to for things like that.

Update…. They finally got back to me today and they do not sell the LiPo rechargeable battery pack that comes with the SK camera separately. So at this point I may try their “large” solar panel instead of the small one that comes with it. They are $60 with mixed reviews. Does any currently have a tactacam setup with the large solar panel ? If so how is it working out for you? Some reviews claim ridiculous amounts of pictures with very little battery usage. I currently have 2000 pics in the two weeks I’ve had it up and the LiPo battery pack has gone down to 60% and that is with the small solar panel connected.

Let the trials & tribulations begin ! I received my SK today. I don't like the rabbit ears antennas. I did take one off & it does send pics. The battery came charged at 70% & I have it charging up. I tried to connect to the cam's wifi with my phone & it won't do it. I have no issues doing so with my other Reveal. When I downloaded the cam into the app, I automatically was charged for the 250 a month " starter " plan.... FOR BOTH CAMS ! I was charged $5 for both combined. I think it knocked out my existing plan for the other Reveal. On a positive note, the wife wasn't home when it arrived.

I did order a " Winghome " 12 / 6 vlt solar panel for my Delta. The lithium batteries seem to last a good spell if not in video mode, so it'll be interesting. My Spyppoint solar lte does really well, though it's not in a spot that gets a lot of traffic, therefore the 100 free pic option is why I like it.

Well scratch that. The wife had taken her SIL to the dr's & had to wait inside the car. She got bored I guess & decided to check her phone security app to see what I was up to. She was asking what I got since she saw me talking to the fed ex guy.... lol I didn't realize she actually knew how to use the app.

Put out the tactacam reveal today. I guess I’m spoiled with the design from my Spartan cams because these cameras are not user friendly. I’m not computer literate and their app was a nightmare for me…spent over an hour trying to figure out how to adjust the time between pics when a friend told me that you can’t…it will take a pic every 50 seconds or so and send it. That’s going to be a lot of pics overlooking a bait pile. Also, the security box must be mounted about an inch from the tree so that the camera will slide all the way in…this exposes the screws used to anchor the security box and someone with a hacksaw can easily remove it from the tree. Also, the solar panel isn’t near as well built as a Spartan…I’m afraid if a squirrel jumps on top of it, the bracket will break. Also, their cord doesn’t appear to be squirrel proof, so I’ll have to get some flex conduit and run it through that. Picture quality doesn’t seem bad though. The only thing this camera has going for it is the initial cheap purchase price. This camera better take awesome pics and last for more than 3 years in the field to win me over. I wish they would’ve copied Spartans design. Here’s a pic that it took while I was setting it up…

My buddy was wrong….you can set the camera to only take pics at certain intervals. Go to settings, click on delay. After turning on delay, a timer will appear with hours, minutes and seconds. Oddly it starts at five seconds and goes to 59 seconds….so if you choose to have a 3 minute delay between pics, it will show zero hours, 3 minutes and 5 seconds on the delay.

Went to install another XB Verizon camera this past weekend and it wouldn't get reception. Worked fine in the house and our cell phones with Verizon had 2 bars where I was installing this one. Evidently the adapter the antenna screws onto came loose inside as the antenna never tightened. Have to send it in to get repaired, already got the email and return information though so shouldn't be long. I've heard of a few people having this happen. What was confusing to me was when you are in a strong signal area it works, however when the signal is weak it completely loses connection. Guess the connection can break but still make contact causing this.

That sucks. Just curious, where the cam is, do you have good AT&T coverage where you could have tried their sim card that came with it ?
That part of the farm the AT&T map showed no coverage, literally like an area about 3 acres in size if I had to guess. Other spots leading up to this particular location would get 1 bar/weak signal on AT&T. The Verizon map showed coverage and our phones get up to 2 bars usually. Every so often we would have trouble sending a text there but not too bad.
