My neighbor invited me to head out for the last day of snapper season with them today. We ran about 40 miles out in some pretty steep swells. I hung a few 6-8 pounders on rod and reel, nothing to be ashamed of as far as size but I threw them all back. My two fish limit was gonna be procured by other means and they were sure to be much bigger. We ended up with a 6 man limit of 12 fish after about an hour of "fishing"

Just dont fish in the bubbles. It was a huge school of reds starting at about 40 foot deep with the big ones down near the bottom at 105 feet on structure. As soon as the guys would drop the boat would get blown off the mark so I was good to drop. I dropped a 2oz white bucktail and it would get hit before it even made it down 50 feet on the fall. I couldn't even get down to the "big" fish.

It was pretty gnarly out there though. We hit some good seas after we shot the pass between the island's. A few times that catamaran fell off the back side of a wave under speed and I was surprised we didnt hear exhaust. Those sum bitches do awesome cutting through waves but if they belly flop they hit HARD.

Took Sterling out for a little dad time. He was catching small croaker about as fast as he could reel them in. He caught his first blue crab on a pole also so the crab is going in the pot.

Had a fun day today. Shrimping season starts in a few days and with that comes Biloxi's annual blessing of the fleet. Took the opportunity to wet a line while we waited and watched all the boats parade by. Ended the day down the coast in Pas Christian at the jazz and blues fest where I ate the best crawfish I've found on the coast. Spicy, make your lips burn and nose run, good and salty, the heads nice and somewhat soft and crushable so they explode with juice when you squeeze em. The boys caught a few small croaker and a couple hardheads. Just loving life.
