Are those school closings due to Covid sickness or just general illness?

I can tell you that there is a nasty cold going around as well. We had 14 out of 27 wrestlers out sick Tuesday from our High School Teams. All were same symptoms runny nose, coughing and sneezing, and felt puny. All were Covid negative. My wife and I are both fighting the same thing.

If it is just the nasty cold that is going around I bet the media will just lump it together so everyone assumes it is Covid.

I think pierce got us all sick. Jess and I have had cold like symptoms the past couple days too. Little germ factories. 🙄😅

IDK - news just said staff called off sick - too early to know what it is
or maybe all those teachers are "sick" of playing covid games with the school district. maybe they just all decided to start Christmas break a day early. :rolleyes:Teachers have been known to use their sick days in ways that are not exactly honest. A news flash without any credible information is just more corporate media gossip. I'm pretty sure that we are all supposed to infer from that news headline that Covid is to blame.

Pretty hard to get instant data on a situation like this - early news was broadcasting school closures due to staff shortage but maybe it could be a hoax

I read somewhere earlier that the UK said if you have a cold right now odds are it isn't a cold but Omi

"Data released on 16 December by the Covid Symptoms Study,1 run by the health science company Zoe and King’s College London, show that the top five symptoms reported in the app for omicron infection were runny nose, headache, fatigue (either mild or severe), sneezing, and sore throat. This initial analysis was based on positive cases in London, which was selected because of its higher prevalence of omicron than in other parts of the UK."

If the above is accurate then odds are that's what we have in this household. :ROFLMAO:

I swear I live in a parallel universe or at least on a different planet then the rest of you all. My world is totally devoid of Covid 19 angst. It could also be because I don't read, watch, or listen to the news at all anymore besides weather forecasts, and even that is tainted with climate change bullshit.

Just got back from the free state of florida. Everything is normal down there.
Same here in TX. No angst or obsession. Like any major event, two political parties in the US jockey for position. Both actually want to control you as much as the other, just in different ways. One common denominator for both is influence of course; funding and and tipping the scales in a variety of ways.

#11 down in Texas. Cousin in law..anti vaxer. Female 61.

Jesus bud. Sorry to keep hearing of you going through this. Either you know a shitload of people or it's an age thing, and by that I mean everyone you know is older. Outside of my great aunt and uncle who were in their early 90s I don't think I know of anyone who passed with covid. My grandmother who was in her late 80s at the times with severe dementia had it but just had the sniffles. I've always said that everyone beyond the age of 55 should really consider getting the jab, especially if they have health issues. The risk vs benefit for them really is pretty obvious. That was before Omi though, while still pretty smart to get it the data is showing the variant is pretty much defeating the jab and older individuals are ending up hospitalized.

I'm sorry Ben. I lost an uncle. One. Have some acquaintances that died from it. One last week. She also refused treatment until two weeks in and it was too late. She was in her mid to upper sixties. I'm sorry you have been thru it this many times. Nobody deserves that many kicks. Hope your pattern changes for the better very soon.
