Ok guys need a little advice. I shot at that buck last night 50 yards I was rock solid and had just shot the crossbow at 40 before we left. The buck and 3 others came from the bottom and he was working right to me until the others cut towards the neighbors. I ranged and got on him he stopped broadside wide open, I noticed the limb on the bow was hitting a small branch so I pulled if away from the branch and shot. I guess I didn't get far enough away because at the shot the limb or cam hit the branch and I felt the bow push to the right. The buck ran off about 60 yards and stood there for prolly a minute then more deer ran down to him and he ran away with them. I felt like I missed but wasn't sure couldn't find the arrow, didn't see any blood but I only went 40 or so yards down the path he ran. He ran but not hard. I still feel confident that the scope never came off his side even when the bow moved. But I don't know where the arrow went. Could it be a stomach or gut shot that doesn't bleed much? I didn't look for any sign besides blood but I'm not sure how stomach matter or intestines would show up on snow. My brother watched him stand there and didn't think he looked wounded but he told me this morning that the other small bucks were on cam last night and this morning but he wasn't. I'm gonna plan on going back over when my wife gets off work maybe he's laying down there where I watched him run to.

Were you on the ground I take it? Any sign of hair, color of hair? How did he react right after the shot, like was tail tucked, did he mule kick, etc…
Shots into the gut or stomach typically don’t leave as much sign/blood of hit mostly due to holes getting clogged but there should be some sign of a hit where he stood I would think.

Good luck, I hope you find him if you hit him! Hims dead if you hit guts, stomach or any organs in these temps, IMO.

I've done what you have and the arrow really kicks one way or other. I wouldn't be surprised if you missed him by 10+ yards at that distance. I missed at 10 yards when it happened to me. I also watched my daughter do it this year with the same result. I do agree about doing your part and taking a second look though.

I was in a stand. Didn't move fast after shot no hair where he was standing. I couldn't see him where he stopped but he just stood there and didn't move until some other deer ran passed him. Tail wasn't tucked but wasn't bouncing around either. Him not showing back up on cam when the other deer were there seems weird to me when they have been there together since Thursday. None of the deer knew what happened and weren't spooked at all.

Look hard today for the arrow and for blood. I assume you have snow so you should be able to find blood or stomach matter without too much trouble. It can take a while before he would start to bleed. Sometimes hair and other stuff is more visible in the broad daylight. Good luck.

I know if it did hit him it wasnt a good shot at all. It sucks because that bow is a tack driver it's a missions sub one. Savannah shoots it out to 60 yards it should have been a chipshot.

You still have snow on the ground? That would make things somewhat easier too find him if he’s down…

When I did it, the arrow was low and left of aim point.

Good luck. I've had bow limbs touching a tree limb I didn't see. Arrow was no where close. Hopefully you find the buck or find a clean miss.

Well it was a clean miss. Here's what I found after looking at the bow. It hit way harder than I thought. Maybe my brother will get on him but I think I'm done. Might take the kids one last time before the snow gets here this week but not expecting alot.
