I figured a photo dump was in order
What’re are the ages of the kids? I’d say at this point in life, start gearing towards the empty nest aspects of your life. Just keep those ideas in your thought process. It’ll be there sooner than you think….To go along with countertops:
The current old farmhouse has a canning kitchen which I've used for canning, butchering, etc and my wife loves it that in not doing that in "her" kitchen (even though i do more cooking).
We had planned on a similar set up in the basement of the new build BUT!
We are planning on keeping the existing house but tearing a few parts off and siding it like a barn and it becoming my butcher shop/ workshop etc. Since we're keeping the well and existing gas lines and planning on running electric to it also were thinking about decreasing the size of the "2nd kitchen" in the basement to a microwave, toaster oven and a full size fridge and just a few cabinets. That would allow us to have space for Foosball, air hockey or some arcade style games in the basement.
Thoughts?

Driveway is around 500 feet.Heated master floor would be a must!!!!!
Looks like it’s coming along nicely, Doug. How long is the driveway? Access too a tractor and a back blade would be a must. But if you haven’t seen a box blade in use yet, take a look at them.
Thanks for sharing the update.
They’re fairly popular down here. See them from time too time used and on trailers moving around by landscapers.Driveway is around 500 feet.
I have plenty of tractors with blades within 400 yards at the farm. I'm leaning towards the ditch witch/dingo style stand on skid steer at the current time over a small tractor. I'll explain my rationale in my other thread once i actually buy one.

@hickslawnsShort version
Farm has plenty of tractor power and one older skid steer so this fills a differing niche
Can get all the same attachments
Lower center of gravity for tipping
More useful imo for the landscaping aspects that will be a property priority for the next few years.
Treads over tires for getting flats when making trails.
Slightly higher price but i am okay with it
One or two companies have them. I have rented one a couple times. Lima is always 19yrs behind the trend. I was one of the first using bulk salt in the area. Everyone else used bags and tailgate spreaders. Only schools, hospitals, and municipalities had bulk salt spreaders. Maybe in another 10-20yrs we will see more Dingos around.@hickslawns
Are y’all seeing them up there very often?
