The woods were LOUD this morning. No turkeys, but every other species of bird in the woodlot was going ape shit this morning. Finally bailed at 8:30 and hit the truck just as the rain started. Another boring hike through the woods.

Been out 5 times this year and havn't heard a gobble. Rick invited me out to one of his spots this morning..had a fun hunt and heard a couple, called in some hens early and kept hearing a bird way off..he kept getting closer and eventually we saw him strutting in to the decoys. Was a big Jake and Rick said shoot him..using the recurve it sounded like a good idea. Lol Took him forever to get in where I had a shot..he jumped up on the hen decoy and itook the shot and watched my arrow go under him and fly up in the air. Lol pretty sure my bow tip hit the blind..so he goes to the next decoy and I get another shot. The shot looked good and thought I got him..all we ended up with was a handful of feathers. I will post the video Rick took and you can see in the pictures the arrow going through him. I circled the white nock where it hit. Famous quote from a guy named Brock..all the fun none of the mess. Lol
What a fun morning to be out and just before the rain hit. Screenshot_20230507_084640_Gallery.jpg

Had some friends up from NC this past weekend. They both killed birds on Friday, one public and one private.
Went out on our lease Saturday and didn’t strick a bird until 10 a.m. got setup on them and wiffed the first shot, little longer than I thought. Circled around and while working the same birds we called in another Tom that came in and beat the piss out of the original Tom’s. As he ran one out of the thicket my buddy Blake got him to stop and gobble and dropped him at 35 yds. Pretty exciting getting it on film also.

Took my son out yesterday morning and had 6 birds gobbling their heads off all around us. Was working two birds to our north but the storms blew in and we had to walk 3/4 back in a down pour with lightning. Called it day since we were completely soaked.
