I killed a yearling doe with my 350 this year using 160 gr Powermax bonded. Shot was through the front shoulder quartering to and she never took a step. Front shoulder meat was pretty tore up but that was only because of bone fragments. The bullet wasn’t recovered but it did not fragment at all based on my observations while processing. Seems to have retained its weight pretty well without sending a bunch of shrapnel throughout.

I always used 150gr. Core Lokt in the .30-06 in PA and it just hits different than the 150gr XP out of the .350L. Definitely can tell they want the energy transfer at closer range than with the -.06. But, that's why it's a 200yrd. gun vs. a 600yrd. military round. Would a tipped bullet make that big of a difference?
You're talking about 2 different types of bullets.
Core lokt is a controlled expansion bullet with a core that should not separate from the jacket.
The XP bullet is all about maximum expansion and energy dump into the animal.
A better comparison would be the 160g power max bonded or the 170 interlock in the 350 legend.

Not only the bullet design but nearly 1000 FPS difference in velocity. These straight walled rifles are nice relative to a 12 gauge pumpkin ball, but they ain’t an 06.
I didn't realize the XP separates, but knew the tip was to allow faster expansion and energy transfer. The 150XP is the only one I see marketing the "rapid impact trauma".
A heavier soft point might also be in my future when I use up the 150gr. stock in 10yrs.

The only Rem 700 I've ever seen (factory) chambered in a caliber we can use for deer hunting was the inline muzzleloader they offered for a few years.
Yep, I get that, but used heavily in other states or places. I personally like the rifle, just do not own one any more. Maybe one day again.

Another gun season in the books. Have y’all learned anything new?
Currently have a CVA Optima V2 shooting 110 (volume) of BH209 and 300gr Hornady SST. Plan to experiment this spring with different loads and bullets.
Having a hard time finding 209 down here so Im toying with the idea of picking up a CVA Scout in 450 Bushmaster for primitive season down here and any trips back up to Ohio.
Keep the cash in my pocket and stick with the muzzy? What says you?

I was much happier with how the Hornady interlock 170s worked than the 150 XPs. Broadside double lung, small entrance and about a three finger width exit. Not much blood trail but it was higher on the side so not much time to fill up and bleed out. The other one was broadside, double lung and heart and it dropped in its tracks.
The 160 powermax bonded that my daughter shot worked well also, but i want to see a more traditional shot before i judge their meat saving/wasting ability.

Have a new 450 with my name on it. Thinking of putting the vortex crossfire ii 3-9X50 STRAIGHT WALL BDC on top of it. Anyone have any experience with it?
I have a crossfire scope on my 1022, it's okay but i find a large difference to my eyes with the higher lines.
I'm also someone who finds value in the idea that your scope should cost equal to or more than the rifle.
