I think the technology is incredible, but I think it takes a good bit of the fun out of it. I guess if I fished tournaments for a living then you’d have to keep up with the Joneses. I’m sure guys 30+ years ago said the same thing about the basic graphs we have now.
Yeah, I can see a lot of guys heading to a chiropractor in their future…. Constantly looking down at the screen looking for the next target….

The house where we stayed at Ocean Isle NC last week had a small pond off the back yard. For about 10-15 minutes a day I'd sneak out and chase bass or bluegill. The bass ate deer hair divers well, the bluegill were surprisingly finicky.

There was a lot of time killed by Ty and his cousins on the bank and in the water. Somehow he managed to drop the handle of his old blue open face reel into the water, so he had to hand reel in the bass. He's shown his passion is true so I took him to the local ma n pop bait store and got him a nice combo.

This time of year that stretch of the portage I've talked about is good. Always some hungry fish in that stretch with those slim covered pickerel as well.

Took a drive yesterday to a "local" smallie stream. Man, I've never seen the water so low there. Very little flow and gin clear water. I was breaking in a new lid a buddy gifted me. It's always important to determine the level of fishing juju a new hat contains. This one's pretty good.

There was no shortage of fish. If you found a little depth and some cover, they were there. They ran a little small, but still feisty. Brown bass will ruin a man.

Most good runs I pulled multiple fish from. This one little plunge produced 4 smallies in 5 or 6 casts.

We always look for beach glass along the coast and at Lake Erie, but creeks is where it's at. I wasn't even looking for this, it's what I about stepped on walking a gravel bar. Clear and green glass along with some ceramic.

As usual, this was the main producer.

I took the day off yesterday to hit a small stream for smallmouth. The bite started a little slow but picked up, lots of smaller fish then a bigger bass towards the end of the day.

I also found a really nice dead buck along a gravel bar. No obvious visible injuries. Is EHD hitting SE Ohio again?
