Of the bass we have in Ohio (smallies, spots, and largemouth), I easily rank largemouth as my least favorite. But, catching a big one with a mouth big enough to chomp a softball is pretty cool.

This fish's head was massive, but its body was skinny.

I was testing a new craw fly I came up with. Testing has gone really well with it, obviously.

That fish should’ve be close to 6lbs in a normal body of water….

Care to post how to you tie it?

Went up north for a few nights solo. Absolute shit show to start, but cleaned it up towards the end. I’ll spare all the details since that would require a lot of typing and I’m feeling lazy. Here’s some pics. Got out this AM before some storms rolled in. I’ve been tying some hopper patterns the past week or two, and wanted to test them out before they get taken up north for trout. Local creek is super low and clear so I figured they’d fit the bill. Mixed bag, landed close to 20-30 fish in a in 2ish hours. Nothing big, but fun to see a piece of metal with foam get smacked.

@Creamer are you using anything to keep the claws sticking straight or just natural? Anytime I’ve done just natural they seemed to stay stuck together in a resting position. Solid fish!!

Sorry buddy, I missed this somehow. I use a clump of deer hair that forms sort of the "mouth" area of the craw. Tying the rabbit strip in tight to that deer hair keeps them from collapsing together.
