Took another trip to da norf woods with my buddy Eli this past couple days. Goal was decent browns on mice and hitting a Michigan trifecta (brown, rainbow and Brook trout in the same day). Accomplished both, although the night time brown fishing the first night was less than ideal with the river we typically fish being super super low and clean. I should’ve known better to call an audible and hit a new body of water but whatever. Day time fishing was tough since most of the rivers are running low and clean due to a lack of rain, but water temps still allowed fishing thankfully. We only had 2 nights for mousing and I wished we hadn’t wasted time the first night. Night 2 we fished a section of a different river that I found on a map and scouted last time I went up. A lot of log jams and deep water made it ideal for big fish eating small rodents. Eli didn’t move anything, I ended up getting 6 fish to slash at the mouse only landing one, but I now know this is a for sure spot to return to in August on my next week off.

@TinyTucky

You see the elite series is on St Clair this week? 47.4lbs leading on day 2
38lbs to make the cut for day 3!
The shear #’s they’re catching is ridiculous….. 😳
I did see that, simply an incredible fishery. I’ve never had much luck this time of year for smallies up there, mostly because I’m not too keen on electronics and they are almost necessary to keep up with the schools of fish this time of year. But I will say all those guys fish professionally for a reason! Lol

Yeah watched some yesterday and today. That forward facing electronics is a game changer for those guys. The older guys (guys I watched growing up in this game) are struggling with the technology, and it shows…..

I think the technology is incredible, but I think it takes a good bit of the fun out of it. I guess if I fished tournaments for a living then you’d have to keep up with the Joneses. I’m sure guys 30+ years ago said the same thing about the basic graphs we have now.
