I've figured it out....they were lesbians.

So I went with John on his sit tonite, we picked a good spot, and at a few minutes after sunset John heard one coming. He had a clean shot but decided to pass, good sportsman's decision. We were psyched up, great sit. He said that encounter was worth the trip Tomorrow is another another day.
