Some of you asked me earlier why I didn’t shoot that 10 pointer. I responded that there were a couple other deer I had in mind. But the other truth is that I was hoping the deer would come back tonight when I had my nine-year-old with me. As some of you know… sometimes it’s more fun watching...

Holy moly. I had a deer literally under my stand. Nice buck (maybe shooter) starts walking my way. Gets within 80yards and I hear some doe bleats. A doe goes running away on the other side of him and he does a 180 and follows. Wow. Deer everywhere this am.

Good morning so far. Yote ran by me right at daybreak (too early to get a bead). Fox went by a little later. Then mom and yearling came in for about 20 min. Craziest thing is I then hear a noise that sounds like a mix between a kid blowing too hard on a recorder and a train whistle..except it’s...

In the stand this am. I’m sure it will probably be better later this week, but I never miss a chance to see this great Creation.

This is exactly why I went out. Ended up with seven at the base of my stand approaching dark and in the dark. Had to snort wheeze to get them out of my way to be able to go home. Love this time of year

One medium doe just showed up to the party but she’s all alone. Strange.

Two doe meandering in the distance at sunrise and a fox running around peeing on everything upright. Pretty quiet other than that. Well, quiet if you don’t count the local chapter of the tree chickens club that decided to meet outside my stand.

That makes at least two of us. Pretty still this am wind wise! Go get er done y’all.

Anyone else late to their stand this morning because they got to bed too late and then just stood there in the morning staring at nothing having an internal debate about the warmth of bed, the crappy east wind, and the thought of bullwinkle walking by an empty stand? No? Just me? Well I’m here. :)

All settled in; nothing so far but a coon family eating grapes. Never saw that before, but then again, never found wild grapes still standing where I hunt.
