Well spent the last two nights working to get ready for paint. Tonight we painted the interior pieces we wanted to get back to a rich black. After that we taped the racing stripes and laid 4 coats of regal black for the stripes. Tomorrow night we will mask them then start laying red on the body. I will post pics tomorrow. Should be a totally different car tomorrow. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Still have a lot of work ahead but we are making progress. It is an emotional journey but well worth it. Connor deserves it. 14 days until he would be 16. I just hope I can have it on the road then.

Long night last night. We had an issue with the hood. I bought a new hood to use on it and I don't think we got the new metal roughed enough before priming and painting the stripes. Last night when we were working to get the hood all masked off we noticed that some of the paint and primer was peeling. So we decided not to paint the hood. I will be taking the hood off tonight and will sand blast it then sand it out and we will start over on it with priming then paint. Glad we caught it now and not a week from now.

We did go ahead and lay the paint and clear coat on the rest of the car.

looks good. i do a little painting and ive had the same problem with tape peeling bascoat up, i figured out it could be moisture that does it and i having the steel to smooth the paint needs a good smooth surface but rough enough to adhere the primer and paint to the surface, if you wet sand with around 400 you should be good just take your time with it, things like that can really frustrate you.

What is your intended blasting media? The ideal media would be soda powder or walnut shells if available to you as not to create much heat on the panel and thus causing warping.
It's best to try to avoid blasting those large sheet panels. A DA would probably be a better option if taking back down.

I will be using Aluminum Oxide media. It is what I used on the rest of the car. I was very careful to keep the heat down.
I will try sanding down the hood first with the DA and see how it goes.

Busy weekend again. Got the engine bay all cleaned up and painted black. Got the windshield and back glass all cleaned up and ready to install. We started cleaning and buffing all the trim pieces. Some needed paint touched up on them. Then we started putting trim pieces back on. We finished painting the hood as well. Happy with the way it turned out.

Tonight we plan on changing the valve seals in the original 307 motor. Change the oil and plugs then start putting it back in. The spray in bed liner kit I ordered should show up today as well. So if it does we will probably get that in.
