Good lord fellas...clearly no one is going to change the other's mind.....:horse:
I know your right. We just all need to wack 4 or 5 does and take the edge off when the season gets here.
Good lord fellas...clearly no one is going to change the other's mind.....:horse:
Can you explain to me how mark drury cannot get a passthrough on a broadside deer ar 30 yards with the arrow passing through the liver and back of the lungs out of a 60 pound bow dreamseason bow? Rage 2 blade...
I know your right. We just all need to wack 4 or 5 does and take the edge off when the season gets here.
No...I cannot....WHen I was shooting 60 lbs on broadside deer I had no issue going through....
Can you verify he is shooting 60 lbs? Also what is his draw length? speed? and arrow weight???
Just outof curiosity to compare with my 2008 set up
I know exit holes make you guys feel warm and cozy....but I really am not all that concerned with them...It doesnt change the outcome of my harvest
Also being the fanatics they are, you think i drurys had issues with Rages not "working" they would still shoot them??? Its not like they couldnt shoot any head they wanted to...
Also, maybe I havent made this clear enough by now....Im not really too concerned with what everyone results are with rages.... They have worked extremely well for me....and thats really all Im concerned about....I guess someday if I ever shoot a deer in the ass Ill see how they work at that end of the body also
it seems pointless to even attempt a meaningful conversation at this point honestly.
Kaiser, you need to go fishing for a while....
What happens if your rage hits a shoulder bone at 25 -30 yards? Does it implode or will it punch right through?
I have always been a fan of fixed blade heads. I know you have had good luck with rage heads, but you are a much better shot than the majority of bowhunters.
I have been on the tracking end of some rage shots and I have seen good, and I have seen very bad. I have seen it where the broadhead went into a deer and didn't penetrate very far even though it didn't hit anything solid. I want as much penetration as possible, and 2 holes are always better than 1 in my opinion. For those reasons I will continue to shoot fixed blade heads.
Aint that the truth...Tomorrow I will
There is one spot on a shoulder that will tear a Rage up...That is the joint where the leg bone makes the socket in the shoulder...A shoulder blade is no issue....It is thin and I have punched rages throguh them before. many times actually... I have bent blades doing this, but that isnt really an issue...Ill just go buy more or replace the blades if need be.
I know you like your crimson talons....I Would never try to tell you not to shoot them. The deer I have helped you track they did very well on...Technically only one was truly a track job..its what you like...Just like Joe and jesse like STs. Hey its what you are comfrotable with...I really have no reason to switch from Rages. I always have a montec or two in my quiver, So if I was gonig to shoot a fixed blade id probably shoot a montec... I guess it will take something major to happen before I Would switch from rages though....But its highly unlikely.... I jsut liek them....I shoot them, they go though deer and they fall over...Isnt that whats suppsoed to happen..
Also, like I said, pass throughs are not that important to me....But Every deer I have shot in the last 2 years with a rage the arrow has passed through...So I Dont see the pass through dilemma.
I dont rely on people to do something I can do on my own....So that wont be an issue... Did JD require you to shoot slick tricks in order to shoot one of his bucks?
Again, I never said one was better than the other...you did.....
And Im sure you never once saw a deer lost to a slick trick either?
Its weird....I have been shooting Rages since 07 and have yet to not get a shot off at a buck because the "conditions" were not right... I must just be really lucky.....So must my dad, all my buddies...my neighbor....etc....
I guess the good news in that if your ever hunting on JDs property and a cape buffalo, grizzly, muskox, moose etc....walks by...you will have the piece of mind to know your broadhead is sufficient...
C'mon man. This is just pot stirring and poking the dog thru the fence. I have no problem with either one of you guys, but I feel obligated to say something here. Both of you work hard year round for the deer you kill. I know Joe has been scouting dang near every night. I have read it on here myself. I am sure you are doing the same. Doesn't matter where you are hunting. If you both lived in Allen/Auglaize/Van Wert county or any other low deer density county, I am certain you two would both work your butts off pre season and during the season. That has nothing to do with broad head debates. Let's keep it civil though. You know you were just instigating with that comment Kaiser.
As far as that is concerned, I think there have been decent arguments from both sides. I am going to stick to fixed blades, but that doesn't mean if I hit one in the neck or in the guts that I wouldn't wonder if I would have been better off with an extra 1/2" of blade. I am still going to wait for the best percentage shot no matter what I am shooting. That is just me though. I realize, deer move and stuff happens during the moment of truth. This is my reasoning for fixed broad heads.
All we are saying is that some day you will have a failure and you will see the dilemma. It may come as a surprise, but you are not perfect and neither is your equipment. You are just as capable of making a bad shot as the next guy, and those Rages are just as likely to fail for you as they are for Mark Drury or Joe Blow. My biggest issue with your argument is the fact that you are arguing ABSOLUTES and there are no absolutes in this sport. Just because it hasn't happened to date, does not mean that it won't happen. I only had one issue with the six deer I killed with Rages, but it was enough to leave room for doubt to creep in my mind. I admitted that the most devastation I ever caused to a deer came from a Rage, so I know they are built to kill. However, they are innately built to fail as well because they are mechanical and anything mechanical, can and will fail at some point. I could honestly give a fuck what broadhead you shoot, but when you try to sell me a bill of goods that these things are flawless and as tough as some fixed blades, I have to call bullshit. The way you talk about the Rages, one would think they are paying you to come here and do so. Take off the blinders and realize that the Rages have flaws and limitations, whether you have seen it first hand or not. Are they lethal? Hell yes they are. Are they perfect? Not by any stretch of the imagination. But to hear you tell it, they are the greatest thing since sliced bread and the vast majority of us here know that simply ain't the case...
If/when it does happen I will fully admit it happened and reassess my decision to shoot rages....Im not to proud to admit my defeats....I just honestly like Rages and have had great luck with them...Thats really all I have to say about this subject at this time..Im sorry if I have hurt anyones feelings during our squabble!
