The same organization that pushed opioids on an unsuspecting public. A lot of the article could of been summarized as, if you’re not on any other meds, have at it. If you are on meds, consult your pill pushing Dr……

My wife was in the medical field for 30 years I’ve seen a lot of BS over those 30 years. Nothing like the last 2…..

3 nurses (RN) and one surgeon in the family - my family and I have been lucky with docs and hospitals (CleveClinic) - not a pill pusher in the bunch

I always take what the AMA says with a grain of salt. They operate at times like a union for family care doctors. They have actively spoken out to limit the capability of services like tele-doc, urgent care, and prescribing pharmacies. They know that if you remove the family care doctor as a roadblock to medications like a z-pack and prednisone then family care docs stand to lose a huge chunk of their business overnight, especially pediatricians. In many developed and undeveloped nations, pharmacists have prescription powers. One-stop-shop for very common ailments. Walk into a pharmacy, consult with the pharmacist, he writes and fills the script. I will however say good on them for bringing to light that these antivirals aren't exactly safe and can cause issues.

Maybe that made sense when pharmacist only had bachelors or masters degrees but pharmacists are doctors now.

Private family doctors are becomming extinct

Corporate stiffs, spewing the corporate BS….

To be fair I think they have a place for the management of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and other issues. It's good that they have a history with the patient and understand the things they've tried before and the patient's lifestyle. But for the majority of things they're nothing more than a roadblock to quality care. If you have an undiagnosed ailment insurance insists that you see a family care doc first to get a referral to a specialist The family doc will want to run their own tests and BS to run up a bill. So you'll wait to see the family doc, wait to get tests back, then get a referral which you'll need to schedule and wait again to see the specialist. Well if I'm pissing blood there is no reason I shouldn't be able to go directly to a urologist. Or if you're having digestive issues a gastroenterologist. They always tout how early detection is key but run you through a months-long rat race first. I've already decided that if I think I have something wrong I'm going directly to the ER. They have the ability and specialists to diagnose whatever the problem is right there before you're ever discharged.

I’m referring too the corporation’s that have a half dozen doctors in one of their clinics. That cost a couple million $$$$ too build. Fancy looking clinics. Drs who spend 10 minutes with you after you’re already 20 minutes past your appointment time. The ones who then in turn bill you for a long exam to get more $$$ outta the insurance and then you.
They couldn’t remember your name if they didn’t have the file in front of them. They don’t hire nurses, they hire techs for less money and a lot of them are on a revolving door because they tire of the Drs BS and how they’re treated.
I feel much better 😂

Dr. Bill Myers delivered me and was the only doctor I saw until I was 15. If anyone in our family was sick and went to see him, he’d call that evening to see how you were doing. He would call, not his office staff. It isn’t that way today. I took everything he told me as the gospel. Now I see a doctor a feel the need to check webMD afterwards.
