I’ve been out practicing my calling on different public lands. Fer like the last month in a half or sooo. Prior to this week it seemed the birds were really responsive. I’m not sure what’s going on. I can’t seem to get a bird to answer at me at all.

Going to keep trying tho. Figure come Monday I’ll just hunt my own place at this rate..

I’m hoping the gang of gobblers Mason is going after don’t say a word but stick to their routine. If so he should have an arrow on the way by 730. If the gobble a lot, almost guaranteed someone will attempt to intercept. We will have fun either way.

Lucas helped set up the blind and get everything ready for the Saturday AM. Hoping for bird #2 for him this year, he's been slaying it during practice!

Wow??? Don't get out much?
I’m scared of the dark.

My middle kid Kody actually asked me about going turkey hunting. He’s the kid that isn’t really into hunting at all. Caught me off guard. I’ll get the crossbow out today and let him shoot it for a while. I seen a Tom and 3 hens on the backside of the woods yesterday around 6:30. Maybe they’re roosting on us or close enough to get them to come over.

I never heard anything close this morning but by 9:00 there were 7 hens, 5 jakes and an older Tom by the house. The jake with the smallest beard was chasing the Long beard all over. They went out of sight a few times but would circle back. Sometimes the other jakes would join in but for the most part they didn't care. I have a target jake now for the good of the flock.

😂😂

Well after much consideration, I’ve devised a plan. Come Monday morning,I’m going back out to public where them birds have went silent.

I figure I’ll get there right about 5am. Making me be in my spot by 530 am. At that point I’m going to start owl calling. Of course I’m not going to do an owl call that’s native to the woods. Nope this is all about one upping my shizt!! I’m going to make up my own owl call and just scream it as loud as I possibly can.

I figure a good fifteen minutes straight of that with a five minute pause in between so I can catch my breath will be a great start.. Come around 6 am at the crack of daylight I’m going to mimic a hackle flydown. Then I’m going to lite up my turkeycall with a “The Sounds of a Turkey” from Porn Hub. Video is 15 minutes long so I reckon I’ll call for 30 minutes. Stop listen for at least 5 more minutes. Then start back over with my owl calls. This process will play out a few times,or at least till I’m bored. Then I will probably shoot my gun a few times just to make sure it’s sighted in, Then leave.

Best of all I’ve added this to my arsenal. I plan on using it right off the rip. I feel it’s going to be the game changer.

Went out yesterday morning to the patch of woods I've had success at the last two years. Only had one gobbling his head off on roost, saw him fly down and strut but he silenced up and never responded to my calls. I'll hopefully find him monday morning. I"ve seen a few other spots they are strutting at this year so I have some plans.

I'm off all week even though the weather is "ehhhh..." After that it'll depend on how fast Dewine opens things up in regards to hospitals and surgeries as to what my schedule will be like but I'm looking forward to getting some extra days in regardless.

Had a big (20-30+) flock in one of the fields next to the farm almost daily until about a week ago when they broke apart.
