I think spring turkey season is the most beautiful time to be in Ohioā€™s woods. The big downside for me is ticks, I have had many health issues over the years and hearing what others that had Lyme disease deal with years later has kept me out of the woods for the last few years. Even though I spray down with permathrin I feel like a have a tick crawling on me for days after an outing.

On top of permethrin, I wear compression tights and a shirt u can find them really cheap on Amazon.

Like usual, I'm pissed about all the good hunting being over by the time our season starts, but I have something to look forward to this year. For the first time, Kaydence has asked to hunt turkeys and is ready to shoot a gun to do so. We're making plans for youth season and I'm pumped to be chasing birds with her.

This year may be a little different for turkeys for me. I had ā€œspareā€ time to burn so Iā€™m off the first week of season and the last week. A buddy and I are planning our first southern OH public land turkey hunt. Not sure what days weā€™re going yet or really where lol
That area you pulled all those BB's out of holds birds. I could about promise you have encounters. The people in that area love turkeys more than deer.

All the turkeys on the properties I hunt are very hit or miss, my boys both have shown interest and want to go and ā€œstay at cabinsā€ . They seem to enjoy the deer camp culture which i look forward to until i die or can no longer hunt. If we go 1 for 3 itā€™ll be a good year depending on the walleye bite we may spend more time on the water
