.400 Legend versus….

Here's a thought- borrow some and try em out. I'm sure you know some folks who could help with that. And I really, really like Joe's muzzy idea, I think that's a winning answer.
If you can have a sexy budget to work with; a smokeless ML. I hunt all over, where various rifles are legal and the only boomstick i use for deer is my SML. No comparison to a regular ML, straightwall and many centerfire for accuracy and reliability. Super easy to use. Give me a rest and yardage.... and we are dragging.

I was not impressed with the blood trail provided. I am looking forward to reloading with a different bullet.

My Savage MLII is my favorite rifle, although I do use others. My farthest kill was 265 yards.

Shot placement maybe? I can tell you that the deer I have shot with my 450 Bushmaster have dropped on the spot, but they have all been inside of 60 yards when I shot them.

I'm happy with my Mossberg Patriot in 450 Bushmaster... Buck I shot this year out in Illinois took one step and folded... Shot was about 80 yds... Shot placement was behind front leg and no meat wasted... Ammo was Winchester...

I'mI'm looking for some Barnes ammo for my 350. They seem to open up better than any bullet I've owned. There's a pic of one on another thread here after it went through a deer. I've shot them from slug guns, ML and my 357 for years with great results

Seeing a trend on many of the FB pages saying the Barnes bullet is the way to go for both the 350 & 400's
Barnes definitely is a great bullet... Here's my Mossberg.... Beauty of a gun, love walnut sticks and hate them ugly suppressors...

Don't know much about a 400 Legend... One thing to consider is ammo... What will the availability be down the road ... In Illinois just about every store had 450 Bushmaster in stock... I have a 35 Whelen, try finding that in a local Mom and Pop store ..
