Hey guys, Mountaineer sent me pics yesterday of the buck he killed Saturday on Wayne Nation Forest. He kept at it this year, kept going back out by himself to hunt and it paid off. I know a lot of u guys dont care for him but some do, and I figured I would keep you guys in the loop on his hunts since he was given the boot>>>>>>>>He said he was following tracks in the snow, not knowing how big the deer was because the snow was like powder and not leaving a print. He finaly caught up to it across a valley and he took a shot and it tumbled all the way to the bottom. He had a 2 mile drag he said....... I will say he def. earned this deer this year after all the trips and all the time he put into it. He never gave up....I commend him on that......Congrats Mount

It's closed now so you all can't congratulate him.:smiley_depressive:rotflmao

For the record Mountaineer, I made it known that I thought it was a bad idea to ban you on the OS. Although our opinions on hunting don't always line up, I agree with you a lot more than I lead on. I'd lose interest in these forums if we all agreed.

Congrats on a great late season buck!

Thanks mrex...I really struggled getting out of bed saturday morning..the alarm went off at 3am and hit snooze until 330am..god it was tough..by myself..route 50 was slick and ice covered..i almost said the hell with it..but something gave me enough energy to continue on..Im glad i did..When i crested that ridge after i shot and looked down at that buck as he was layin there..i almost broke down..The feeling of success was amazing after this tough season..everything went wrong..all season long...It just goes to show things can turn around in a matter of seconds. I think what i have learned this season is to not give up..get yourself out there..get in the woods..something is gonna happen..ya just have to be there when it does.. I think Sometimes the hardest part of hunting is the process of just getting yourself in the woods...getting out of bed lol

I kinda miss all the heated debates...it was kinda fun..but man did i get beat up..lol..

For the record, I defended you and that's why I got kicked off, same day you did.

I drink bud light but would consider another offer. Steak is good TOO, and of course 21 or so year old girls.

Congrats on a great late season buck!

A match made in heaven! Now go shake hands, touch weiners, or whatever you boys do when you make up.

Congrats on a fine buck Mountaineer!

I will say, tracking the deer and still hunting until you caught up with him is awesome! Although, I was thinknig about it the other night when I Was in the woods! I dont think you could do it around my hosue unless you did it in a fresh snow. THere are way to many deer tracks. I know I would get confused following tracks around with all of them crossing over!

This sound alot like what I went through. Bow season had its ups and downs, but my gun season had been horrible until that afternoon. The buck I killed was only the 3rd deer I'd seen all year while carrying a gun! Parts of me wanted to give up, but I kept dragging myself out of bed.

Nice buck mountain man! The way that you went about killing that deer has to mean alot to you, as far as feeling like you earned it and for long term memories.....It seems the harder you work to kill a deer just makes it that much sweeter when success finally happens. That would really be a dream hunt for me to go about it like you did. Congrats.

Were his brow tines broken off or did they just not develop while he was growing? Just curious. Also, incase I missed it, what kind of main beam length and gross score did that deer have? The beams look long to me.
