Nope. Once you shoot a buck you aren't allowed on public land even to just walk around until after deer season.

Sounds like 6ish to me.

I'll be at the gate where we parked last year at the crack of light. My plan is to retrace my steps from last year, but I plan to spend a couple hours on top of the ridge just glassing.

I will pack some snacks sticks, summer sausage, cheese, etc. and will plan to be back to my truck by 1PM. I plan to be back to our farm around 3:30 to hunt the evening there, so I'll be on the road by 2PM.

Sounds like Darrell and I are out. He wants to hunt locally. One of my goals was to get him on a deer along with my two local hunting buddies. One of the two hasn't been able to hunt due to health. He is back in the game this weekend. I'm going to do what I can to help them locally. Be safe and have fun guys!
