We won last night 13-10 making it our second win. We're now 2-7.

Got an earful from two parents last night about Lil Johnny only playing 3 of the 6 innings. Figures its the parents of the kid whom only shows up for half the practices and games.

The biggest problem in Coaching = Parents.

Just so you know it doesn't get better as the kids get older. I coach the varsity team and had a parent corner me and my coaches for 45 minutes the other day to tell us all the things we're doing wrong. Of course he didn't want to discuss the issue about his son signing up for drivers ed as we're heading in to the playoffs. The kid has to leave practice early 3 times a week. He misses batting practice and its my fault he can't hit.

Yeah, I know. It's difficult pleasing my staff of 4 coaches, 13 players, and 26 parents. That's 43 people I need to make happy by the end of the day. Tough task!

One of my assistant coaches fed me his reply to the next parent that complains. I goes something like this, "Well, if you want your kid to have more playing time you should really think about Coaching."

I figured I'd catch a little heat this week as we had to turn in our All Star player submissions. All Star game is Saturday. I had my coaching staff decide who's going. I'm sending 4 players. My 6 year old son included. He'll be playing in the 7-8 division. Proud Pappa I am.

Not gonna please everyone. Fuck em.

Kody made pony all stars. Klay made bronco. I'm excited for them.

Klay made a play in the hole to his right at SS the other day that was just friggin sweet. Stretched out back hand, plant, long throw, banger at first on the leadoff hitter. I think I got a boner from the play. One of them plays where you just say, "wow".
And he hasn't K'd all season in leadoff spot.

Kody has finally gotten adjusted to pony pitching and is back to stroking line drives.

Pretty pleased with their progress.

Well our season is over. Lost our first playoff game yesterday in a slugfest 14-11. The team we played has 8 seniors and we only had two so we held our own. We got down 7-0 early but came back to get within one in the 5th. I think my young team was nervous and it showed early. Once we settled in we played better and I was proud of them for fighting back. I've got a strong group returning next year and a good freshman class coming in so the future looks bright. On to summer ball. Babe Ruth practice tonight.

I wish we still had the Babe Ruth league. I hate pony! Pony ends at 14. It leaves 15 year olds out to dry.

Yeah that stinks. Here our 13-15's play Babe Ruth. 16-17's play Jr. Legion and 18-19's play Sr. Legion. There's opportunities for kids of all ages to play summer ball. Of course we have to draw from a huge area to field teams since most kids choose to do nothing all summer or even worse play basketball. I've never figured out why anyone would want to spend their summer in a gym.

Yeah, these friggin basketball coaches take up a lot of the summer.

We created a "league" for the kids who are freshman to juniors that aren't good enough for legion. They play everyday for the month of June. But , if it weren't for that, the young kids would have nothing.

Our All Star team won 29-28 in seven innings of play Saturday.

What a great time see all the talent combined on one team.

As a new group they played well together. They were well focused.

My Mini-Me is on the far left (6) playing in the 7-8 league.

Saturday was the highlight of my year so far. Good times.

Best of luck to her and the team!!

Played in the regionals back in 90 was a day I'll never forget. Tell her to take it all in.

Thanks Mike! Unfortunately they didn't win the first game on Saturday so they were bumped out of the running. Kind of a rough game though, definitely did not play up to what they should have. Not sure if it was nerves or what but several errors, being tentative on going after easy fly balls, several walks and hit batters and voila we lost. My daughter played RF and finished up the season with her head held high. Not bad for being one of two Freshmen on the Varsity for a D1 high school. Both of them sure showed why they were brought up that's for sure.

We stole a game last night against a better team. We won 14-5. We gave up 5 runs in the second inning and played shutout defensive the balance of the game.
My defense is now working and our bats are now making good contact. Looking good!

Looks like I'll be playing my first games on the summer on Friday. Got a DH in the old man's league. Time to dust off the spike and have my first go 'round with wood bats! Bought me a nice Mizuno maple composite to use. 34" of fake, black wood. I'll feel a bit like Cotty at the plate strangling the black lumber while in the box! lmao

So I got a CD of pictures the other day from our school photographer. It's all the pictures he took during our varsity season. There weren't too many of me but he did get this one which basically sums up my frustrations this season. The picture did make me smile though.

We're now 3-10 and down to our last two weeks of the season. July 5th begins tournament ball in which we are illegible to play in I (Eye) League.
