Boarhead's Coyote Snaring 2014

Zach the snares work all the time. If I were still setting traps I would not have half the yotes I have caught this year with the weather we have had. Hope you catch the black one. You must be way north of me as no snow here at all.

He was rubbed out but he is dead now so no deer for him . Also caught another coon and released it. One more to go and my total for snaring will be 80 with 26 for this yr plus one bow kill makes 27. I did set a couple more snares along this trail so I have 5 set on it now and hope it produces a few more the next 2 weeks before wrapping up.

I love this thread! Nice job!
Thanks Diane I just wish we had more of us out there doing this as I don't think a lot of deer hunters realize how many yotes are out there and it can only help their fawns survive this spring. I would like to be out shed hunting already but right now I just feel this is more important to help the deer out in my hunting areas and will start after the sheds in a few more weeks . Like I posted earlier about the pair of yotes that killed 28 fawns in a five month period now that is a lot of fawns for just 2 yotes to feed their pups kinda scary what they are doing to our deer herd. We all spend so much time on food plots, minerals and what not but I feel this is probably the best thing we can do for our hunting areas. It does take some time and work but if anyone can find an hour or two before or after work for just 4 to 6 weeks they can really hurt the yotes in their areas.

Good job Brian! I found fresh tracks in the mud today and I didn't have my snares with me. I'm going to set some tomorrow. How long have you been snaring yotes?

I don't doubt this one bit. Wish I had the time to commit to it every year. This winter was NOT the winter to do it for me. Work load was entirely too heavy. Looking forward to trying it in the future and your thread has been motivating. Keep up the good work.

Just one coon today and was fun releasing him haha. That was the 18th coon this yr probably should have trapped coon too but just wanted to concentrate on yotes.Going go pull some tomorrow and check out my friends farm this week where he raises cows and set a dozen there till I pull them all.Was a nice day out today but sucks it is going to drop 50 degrees tomorrow.

Bigslam I trapped for yrs when I was younger but have been doing the snares for the past 5 seasons. It does help as I am seeing more does with two fawns a lot more than I did before I started this.

Well all I can say is hopefully I can snare half of what you did this year next fall and winter.

securedownload[1] (83).jpgsecuredownload[1] (84).jpgsecuredownload[2] (49).jpgsecuredownload[1] (85).jpg Well it was a wet day but a great one as I caught this nice male that made # 80 all time catches for me .I started at 53 this year and my goal was to hit 70 this yr so am real happy with 80. That is # 27 for this yr and about a week and a half to go. Checked out the other farm yesterday but not real great for snaring but has great potential next yr if I decide to put some foothold traps out lots of cow pastures and hilly. The yote today had real nice fur on him also.

Boarhead you deserve some kind of award of something!!!! You are one gung-ho coyote snarer thats for sure. Congrats on a great season!!!!

Thanks guys and gals it has been a blast this year and will miss it when I finish up but time to move on to other things in another week and you guys have all kept me motivated to keep after them. And Rick and Don I am sure will miss all of my text with pics when I am done. LOL
