Well, even with the Purdue loss OSU is a better team. 2 of the 3 teams ending up ranked number 3-5 , ahead of OSU at #6 have clearly shown they don’t belong there

The last time OSU went to a playoff game they rolled a zero. Easy to talk when all you have to do is beat one or maybe two big 10 teams per year that turn out halfway decent to make a team look "good". Oh yeah big bad accomplishment beating michigan this year. That shows that OSU is a bad ass team. Well. Except for the fact that your worthy opponent just got embarrassingly blown out by measly Florida 41-15.

LMAO Purdue...

I'm not trying to be a jerk here. I mean no offense. I believe a playoff for 3rd place with ND, OU, OSU, and GA would have been more exciting. Let Clemson and Bama play for 1/2. Sadly, I think ND is the 4th seed out of the four I mentioned. I could be totally wrong about ND but I don't think so. OSU might end up being 3 or 4 out of those playing for third to be honest.

Ugly. Ugly. Ugly. Penalties. Needless bullshit thuggery after letting OK get in their head. Mistakes on fundamentals like falling for a hard clap twice in a row. Slacking up and giving up plays in the end. Get those guys heads right Saban! People can hate on Bama football all they want but we've always been able to hang our hat on playing clean football.

You guys are great! Y’all can put it out and take it without getting feelings hurt. Really fun site to be on. [emoji106]

My feelings never get hurt, and I try to be as even in my observations as possible. But I can also yank a chain hard enough to pull a double wide off its blocks when it comes to football talk. I'm hard on Alabama and just as critical on other teams. Sadly the "hard on Alabama" part is usually forgotten when I'm being just as critical of OSU.

Boy. Sure glad people bitched enough to get a playoff system because they were tired of the same old teams in the BCS title game. Brace yourself, more 8 team playoff whining is coming. 🙄🙄😪😪😪😪

So, in your opinion, the NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA BASKETBALL, WORLD CUP, High School sports, etc, should all just play the top two ranked teams at the end of the year according to sportswriters? Teams do improve over the course of a year, get healthier, suffer injuries. Teams don't play the same schedules. The next time Alabama plays a true out of conference road game will be the first. Most other teams attempt an OOC road game atleast once every couple years.

There absolutely should be at the very least an 8 team playoff, if not 12. Division 1 college football is the only sport where there isn't a true Tournament style format to determine a champion. 4 teams is a start, but it's laughable to think its remotely fair. I just dont understand the argument against expanding the field. Its literally done in every other sport. Hell, even in High School football you go through a 10 game regular season, and have to win 5 playoff games to be called State Champs

Anything more than 4 teams adds too much randomality to the system. Any team can get beat on any given day. Going to 8 teams proves nothing and adds nothing. You could play an 8 team playoff 3 times and likely come up with three different results. At that point you're not trying to determine the best, or the most deserving, but rather trying to make sure your team gets a shot. This also increases the odds of injury and things that could massively effect the outcome between 8+ teams. Funny you never hear this whining from fans of teams in the 10+ slots. People complained and whined for a playoff because they were tired of the same old teams in the BCS title game, now they're not happy with the playoffs because its the same results. The reality is they're not going to be happy as long as they are on the outside looking in and will come up with every reason why the system sucks and not their team. Team's should concentrate more on not rolling a zero in a playoff game when they do make it, and not getting blown out by teams like Iowa or Purdue in regular season, do that and they too will get a legitimate shot. Nobody keeps anyone out of the playoffs but themselves.

Does this apply to other sports or just football, added randomality is good thing. Like stated before teams improve over the season and some have injuries, one thing for sure it would shut up the UCF people, whose team I think would get crushed, but if you never let them play, you never know.

I don't think it applies to non-contact sports like basketball, baseball etc where injuries aren't a huge risk like football. You can have a huge playoff and the better team is likely to still shine through. But for football it simply adds randomality for entertainment purposes and that's it. Ask Alabama to play another 3 games single elimination and the results will likely be different. Even if those three teams were crappy like UCF. Then factor in that teams have a hard enough time getting guys to play due to the draft, like Michigan missing 4 starters, and that adds even more of an issue that adds nothing to the playoffs. It doesn't make sense other than for people who believe they should be in, but didn't earn it, to see their team have a chance.

The goal is to be in the top 4. Play a good season and don't lose to crappy opponents, if they do that then that team is in. If OSU didn't lose to Purdue or Iowa the last two seasons they would have been in both seasons. They have nobody to blame but themselves and its damn sure not the systems fault or a bad playoff bracket. Sack up, practice, finish each game at hand, and try again next year.

But the whole "earn it" part is a farce. Your letting teams get voted in by sportwriters and college presidents who despite what they say, absolutely have bias. And teams arent playing the same schedules. When the hell will BAMA play an out of conference road game against anyone with a pulse. Hell anybody for that matter. Saban wouldn't dare take that chance of losing an out of conference game and an SEC game in the same season cuz he wouldn't get in. Instead, he schedules Panera Bread University

You don't need out of conference road games when you're in the toughest conference in the nation year in year out. Here is the end of season National strength of schedule ranking. How many of those teams did OSU play Mr 16 and still had a loss? Because excluding themselves Bama played 6 of the top 10. And even on a bad night will still make a Heisman winner cry.

My first question is: are those based off rankings of sportswriters? Secondly, im not making an argument as pro OSU, atleast I dont think. Third, those will change as most of those teams haven't played the bowl games yet.

My real problem is CFB not really having a true playoff like every other sport in the world, and every SEC fanboy yelling "we're the best conference cuz we are propped up there every year at the beginning. At one point the rankings had an SEC as the top 1 liss, top 2 loss, 3 loss, and 4 loss in the rankings. "Well Jimbob, we ranked all the two loss, who's the top three loss team in the SEC, cuz they gotta be better than everybody else". Its a rigged system
