I just wish he spent even half as much time on our deer contest as he does boasting about Alabluma....maybe we would know who was winning....or even anything about it at all.....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::cool:

Sounds like we have a volunteer to run it next year! But you do raise a valid point. I've been the OSU of the deer contest this year. So prestegous, so hyped, yet so disappointing. 😂

I'll get it caught up.

Joe is the expert Ryan. No need to argue. He will win. He makes the rules as he goes. Save your breath.

Lets try it this way. The number 6 seed. OSU. Tell me what they did that was so impressive that they deserved to be in.

But before you do that, let me highlight a couple of the not so good looking moments this season.

1. Gave up 31 points to unranked Oregon St

2. Barely beat Penn St by 1 point late in the 4th.

3. Gave up 26 to unranked Indiana.

4. Lost by 29 to unranked Purdue and only managed 20 points the whole game.

5. Gave up 31 points to unranked Nebraska only winning by 5 points, again in the last minutes.

6. Gave up 51 points to unranked Maryland, only winning by a single point, again late in the 4th.

7. Gave up 24 points to a #22 team in the Big 10 championship cupcake bowl.

I don't know about you but that doesn't scream "title shot team" to me.

My first question is: are those based off rankings of sportswriters?

No opinions or voting at all. It's all numbers.

SOS is calculated by determining the cumulative won/loss records of the team's opponentsand the cumulative won/loss records of the teams' opponents' opponents. The formula shall be weighted two-third (66 2/3%) for the opponent's record and one-third (33 1/3%) for the opponents' opponents record. The team's schedule strength shall be calculated to determine in which quartile it will rank: 1-25, 26-50; 51-75; 76-100 and shall be further quantified by its ranking within each quartile (divided by 25). For example, if a team's schedule strength rating is 28th in the nation, that team would receive 1.12 points (28/25 = 1.12). Should a team play a Division I-AA opponent, only the losses of the Division I-AA team shall be used in determining the opponent's record or the opponent's opponents' record

.

Or you could be the Alabama of deer contests and just give the win to the team that hunted in The Citadel Hunting Preserve for the easy sure kill.

Anything more than 4 teams adds too much randomality to the system. Any team can get beat on any given day. Going to 8 teams proves nothing and adds nothing. You could play an 8 team playoff 3 times and likely come up with three different results. At that point you're not trying to determine the best, or the most deserving, but rather trying to make sure your team gets a shot. This also increases the odds of injury and things that could massively effect the outcome between 8+ teams.

So last I checked the NFL plays football and has a 12 team playoff, so they have 8 more teams in the playoffs than they should?

Why not have automatic bids for the conference champions of the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, ACC, AAC and then 2 at large teams to be selected from any conference or independent. You could end up with 3 SEC teams in the playoffs and make you very happy:D

I realize this is a worthless discussion as you have already made up my mind for me.:D
