Funny stuff. Poor Dustin. "Wait til Notre Dame starts Notre Daming." :ROFLMAO:

It's all good Dustin. I got sucker punched with their OSU assessment. (n)o_O

Oh come on Hicks don't be sore. It was by definition a struggle win. The OSU secondary got burned left and right both run and pass. Luckily they made 3 critical stops in the red zone where OSU forced a FG attempt with only 2 out of 3 successful. A couple of missed catches by PS in the endzone. Couldn't contain McSquirley, twice he flat out trucked OSU Safety #23 Wint. If it wasn't for a gaggle of missed tackles on 2 critical OSU plays that resulted in TDs it would have been a whole other score. And WTF was penn thinking going zone read with a handoff up the middle. You know they're bringing the house, go run pass and either QB keep, which you've burned them on all night.; or better yet you're up 100 yards total offense and almost the whole 100 of that is in rushing, they KNOW it's a run, get a man open and burn them outside the hash where you've also been killing them all night. Stupidest play call in history on 4th and 5 on the 45.

Great teams find ways to win. OSU struggled. No doubt. Down 4 defensive starters by the end of the game including 2 DBs. They came home with a W against a top 10 team. Has Bama played a ranked team yet?

Nope. But nice attempt at a deflection; to answer your question neither has OSU or Penn St until this weekend. Also define "great"?? Let's be honest, PS came in the season at 13th and only made the top 10 due to attrition after Auburn and Washington losses. They don't belong there any more than LSU in 5th or Auburn in 8th. And I sure as hell wouldn't beat my chest if Bama beat Auburn by 1 point. Especially when that mighty ranked Penn St only beat Appalachian St by 7.

As for the topic on hand, nothing I said above is any result of playing "ranked" or unranked teams. A free safety getting trucked twice by a QB shouldn't happen at any ranking. A spy taking his eyes off the ball shouldn't happen at any ranking. 2-3 defenders missing tackles on OSU with 6 and 2 minutes to go in the 4th that resulted in two touchdowns shouldn't happen at any ranking. Victor and Hill didn't "make" those guys miss, they just flat out missed. Against a truly ranked team, both of those would have been stuffed and OSU would have ended up 14-26. Pen St lost that game themselves and nobody made them do that but themselves. I don't know about you but that screams struggle win to me.

blah, blah, blah. I heard this same song back in 2014, and we all know how that ended. :D Teams get better, especially young ones that are talented and well coached. St. Augustine said "That which is sought with difficulty is discovered with pleasure." a struggle win is still a WIN, and it is the best kind of win to get, imo. putting up 50+ points on cupcakes is nothing but a glorified scrimmage. get back with me after Alabama puts up 50 points on a worthy opponent.

Aww it's so cute that you're still holding on to 2014 when Bama has more national championships in the past 5 years than OSU does in the past 48. Those T-shirts are looking pretty ratty these days. 😅 know what isn't a struggle win. Getting shut out 31-0 in a playoff game against clemson. PS Bama beat them 24-6 for the title.

I can't argue any of that, but it sounds like your rather living in the past, too, buddy. ;) I'm not saying OSU can go the distance, and I thought they should have handled PSU. was a piss poor showing, but I'd put them on the field against Alabama tomorrow and bet the farm that it would be a close game.

Close game? Dude. Osu has some bad issues in the secondary that need fixed before you can say that with confidence. Bama isn't without fault but they have a stacked defense, a large 5 star depth at the RB and receiver positions, and a QB that is making waves. You can have our freaking kicker and punter though. Freaking garbage. Lol.

Many times in the past I've been willing to call a spade a spade to include with Alabama. Before last year even started I said I didn't think Bama had what it took due to a crappy QB and a bad secondary. And that crappy QB indeed almost cost us the title. Twice. Once in the title game and before that in a shitty showing against Auburn. I was the first to say that jalan hurts was crap and couldn't pass worth a damn, even back when everyone was singing his praises. I hold all of them to the standard of criticism be it OSU, Bama, or podunk ND. The difference is there are a lot of people who let fandom blind their ability to look at a performance and say that was total garbage regardless of the fact they won.

As for Alabama. Tua is the real deal and probably one of the best QBs I've watched in a long time. And I'm not just saying that because he's playing for Bama. I've said very similar things regarding deshawn watson. And I also said that when they beat Bama, it was well deserved as they were obviously the better team. Fan boy bullshit has zero weight in my opinion on football. Anyone who can look at you with a straight face and say that performance by OSU against Penn was anything but a shit show has zero credibility in my book. None. Penn flat out beat themselves in that game, and while it was a "win" it damn sure isn't anything to boast about like they did something, oponent rankings or not. IMO that's why OSU has a history of making it to the big time only to get blown out with an embarrassing defeat. Sabin calls it rat poison. And it is. People let fandom overlook sloppy football and all the headlines talk up how awesome they are. The fanboy headlines get in players heads and they don't improve. Screw the "a win is a win" or "we're awesome" stuff, lets talk about what needs to improve, where we suck, and what we can do to make it better. To do that you first have to admit there's problems. Bama had a shit kicker again. Despite having three 5 star kickers on scholarship. We also have a problem in the secondary with ball hawking. Too much emphasis on interceptions and men aren't being covered adequately. One interception isn't worth crap if over the course of a game you let their offence throw for 200 yards because you didn't cover your man tight enough in the valley.

Blahahahaha! Every year we gotta read this shit multiple times...#fanboyhater

Yep. Not a fan of fanboys. Now if you wanna talk football we can do that.

I thought it was a good move by OSU to pull LB #32 Boreland from his QB spy role after only 1 quarter and replace him with #39 Harrison. On numerous instances #32 lost track of the ball, once he even swallowed the hook to chase down an empty RB resulting in some big QB runs for Mcsquirley. #39 did a better job of watching the ball but flat got embarrassed after getting trucked on two occasions by McSquirley. Once for a first down and once for what ended up being a yard short of a TD. I mean come on. You're a 6'3 240 lb linebacker that got straight ran over by a 6' 200lb quarterback. McSquirley had 25 carries for 175 yards. I'll say it again. 25 carries for 175 yards. Granted Bosas absence leaves a big hole. If I was the team up north id be eyeing up a good option offense. Shea Patterson is not afraid to use his legs to pick up first downs or points.

Mcswuirley made them look good. To say they lost to us on missed opportunities is a wash. Because we had plenty of our own that should’ve/could’ve/would’ve... If anything, we damn near beat ourselves in that game.

OSU needs to stop playing half the game, period.

McSquirrely. I'm happy that stuck :ROFLMAO:

everything beyond the line of scrimmage on OSU defense needs to improve. and all the damn penalties. DA FUCK? our punter is doing pretty good, though. special teams doing well all around.

I just wished Alabama played a team that was competitive with the same talent.
Their non conference schedule is vanilla at best. Lol
I just wish we could have a honest conversation about OSU football without red hearing or whataboitism tactics of deflection, but it is what it is. lol

I don't think your secondary was that bad. A few dropped men and a couple of catches that were undefendable like that one hand one. Not as bad as Bamas ball hawking BS.

Easy tiger. You were just supposed to laugh and say "whatever". I acknowledge you have been objective about Bama in the past. This year? You just shot down nearly ever ranked team as to why they aren't as good as their ranking. I curious who you believe is a top 10 team. Heck, throw out top 5. Doesn't have to be 10. I'm genuinely interested. I won't deny OSU still needs to do work. Haskins is at the top of the list. He won't have a 10x10 pocket for every 5yd pass the entire season.

Our receivers dropping those passes also hurt us during crucial downs but Jamie hit the nail on the head with his post, IMO. I will add that our OL did a shit job run blocking and pass protection in the first half but got better in second half.
Our punter was a HUGE positive and helped us bigtime during that game!
