Costco by a wide margin. Their store brand kirkland is pretty high quality. When my wife worked for conagra costco always demanded really high-quality on their contracted products they had co packed with conagra. They have good deals on clothing too. I bought a few pairs of orvis flannel lined hiking pants that are really warm. Normally 60 bucks costco had them for 19. Sams club stuff always seemed really cheap run of the mill generic bulk crap to me.

I will miss winco grocey when we leave wa. It is kind of like a huge aldi. Very little not grocey items and lots of bulk barrels of dry food goods. They have produce and dry goods you cant find other places. They also beat pretty much everyone on prices.

I cannot imagine NOT shopping at Costco now. We save a fuckton of money buying bulk, even on name brand items like Kerrygold butter, Dawn dishwashing liquid, Tillamook cheese and a dozen other things that we use constantly. Kirkland brand whole bean coffees are outstanding, and priced right. Best coffee for the money, imo. Both the House Blend and French Roast are an excellent cup of joe. Got a great pair of prescription multifocal eyeglasses there last summer for half of what my optometrist wanted. Everyone who works there is always genuinely happy, friendly, and helpful too.

Funny you mentioned that cheese. We bought a couple of blocks so we can start grading our own again. We have the attachment for the kitchen aid and it is so much better than buying graded. Also doesn't have all the preservatives in it.

I've used the food processor to grate lots of cheese, but I usually just do it by hand as needed. Tillamook is good cheese. Always a block or two in our freezer along with a wedge or two of the good Parmigiano Reggiano. Nancy gets antsy when we don't have enough food here to feed 10 people for 6 months, lol.

Tillimook is great. Their ice cream is also really good. I love going down to their plant. My wifes company darigold tried started a cheese line which was equally high quality but they could never break into the market because of tillimooks brand recognition with cheese out here. Darigold discontinued the cheese line this year to make room for more raw dairy processing and butter churns. Tillimook gets most their milk from darigold. They have a few coop farms but not on the scale darigold does.

We are the same way. Our next major purchase is going to be a freezer drier. I feel like we put entirely to much food in the trash can that could be preserved for a later date. Because she can't just make some chili, it's a barrel full. She cooks huge portions of everything.

We also grabbed some pork belly to make bacon and some roast to make jerky. That isn't something you can do with any weight from a regular store. So it is great for those of you wanting to make foods like @Jamie
I just smoked, sliced and froze some pork belly bacon from Costco a few minutes ago. Lol
Slab was $43 didn’t look at the weight though.

Not sure how much money is saved doing this but i guarantee it’s going to taste delicious! Cured with real maple syrup, brown sugar and course ground black peppercorns flipped in doubled gallon sized freezer bags once a day for a week and smoked today at 200 till internal temp of 150-155, then cooled and sliced, vacuum packed and into freezer.
I was told you don’t want to freeze it much past 3 months cuz it will start losing some flavor.

Sam's mainly because of scan and go, put my item in the cart, scan it, don't touch it again. Pay skip the line, show my phone to the person at the exit, out the door.

Sam’s is only 20 minutes away and the nearest Costco is an hour. I’ve never been to Costco but would like to visit just to see the difference. The wife used to work near the Costco that is an hour away and she said Costco is waaaay better than Sam’s club.

Interesting that people only use Sam's club because of convenience. Same reason Walmart became so popular. That idea works. Humans are lazy and will take the easy route over a superior product. Same reason we used Sam's.

While on this subject we have also faded away from Walmart and Kroger. We accomplish 95% of our grocery needs from Aldi now. Another great way to stretch your dollar. Sunday shopping has become a 2 or 3 stop kind of day over 1 stop shopping, but we have saved a ton of money doing so. Start the shopping at CVS, then Aldi. If anything needed wasn't found, which usually doesn't happen, then we stop at Walmart or Kroger to get that item or two. The $400 a week trip to Walmart has been cut down to $200 a week. The 3 trips a week to DG for stupid shit has also stopped. Gas station energy drink and snacks (blue collar life) has also stopped. The same drink comes to my door now and cost me $2.02 each, not $3.49. I am done taking my hard earned money and wasting it on ease. I hope this thread helps someone else that is interested in keeping more of your money. Shit is tough these days. Pisses me off to the core that $100,000 anual income is damn near poverty level. That's all I dreamed about as a kid. Now you can't buy a house and new vehicle on that. Down right disgusting. This conversation should probably be its own thread but feel free to continue the talk if you feel the need.

Speaking of quality...it should be no surprise that with my luck, the freezer we bought doesn't work. Called them up and they will contact us when the next shipment arrives or we can go to any location we want to return it or exchange it. Very easy process and no questions asked. If I had a normal person's hassle free style life, this would be inconvenient. But for me this is just part of the process. I'm thankful for the ease of trying to get it resolved. I can't make this shit up, lol.

We do Costco and have been happy with it. Don’t they do a 2% cash rewards on purchases with executive membership as well?
