So... Last two weeks have sucked. Bad tooth pain >Infected back molar > oral surgery > infection > drugs> scrape/clean area again > pain > recovery = a hole the size of a 38 in my gum and jaw.

Today since I'm home and the rut has ramped up around the property, I got serious today about finishing the dialing in of Jeff's cross bow. But I could not keep any accurate groups. Some were on, some were off. Long story/short is the scope would not hold zero so I ran to town. Only thing in town was a Trueglo 4 x 32. Mounted it and started seeing consistency so that's good. Tomorrow I'll shoot a few from the roof then I'm ready to hunt with it.

Sorry to hear about the tooth, Jim. But I'm glad you've decided to make some lemonade from those lemons. Get that sucker dialed in and go whack a deer with it!

Looking forward to seeing your success stories. Hit the woods. Shoot the deer. It's good for the soul.

Well...
Sat in a ground blind last night.

5:15pm a big doe came in to 18ish yards. I put a bolt through her drivers side slightly 1/4ing away. Looked like it lunged her and glanced off the inside far shoulder.

Exiting at a right angle out the other side. It hit her so hard it slammed her to the ground. She rolled over, jumped up and ran. Blood was good for the first 80 yards then stopped. Even found some what looked like lung tissue at 1 point. Shortly after that the blood stopped. Spent 3.5 hrs. looking last night after the blood ran out and another 3 this morning. Steady light rain last night into this morning so there was no chance of picking up any additional blood this am. We were just looking for a body but to no avail.

This is the second deer I have lost in my life.
And my mouth was throbbing by the time we came in last night. I was expecting a easy recovery.

Looking at that head. What are the odds you hit something harder? That head is trashed! Like it hit something real hard. Shoulder socket, sternum, rock

Maybe shoulder. the bolt was not "stuck" in the ground. I found it at a right angle from the direction it would have exited. The mud on the tip is because I stuck it in the ground upright after finding it as a reference point.
There's a few acres of elephant grass, redbrush, black berry prickers and swamp to the North she headed too. We pushed through as much as humanly possible but nothing. My arms and lower legs are shredded from the prickers last night and this morning.
She was a big healthy doe. I'm going to make a wider swing one last time before calling it.

This was suppose to be the "In memory of Jeff" deer since it was his x bow... He drops a big doe in my lap then hides her...Figures.
