Silly. When you see how quickly wounded game can be recovered the benefit is immediately realized. The number of deer left unrecoverable is shameful. A person should use any means necessary to recover a wounded animal IMO.
Agreed. I quit taking tracks with Hank due to some of the stuff I ran into. It truly is shameful. Hats off to you guys and the dog handling deer trackers. It isn't easy listening to some of the calls. Where did you hit it? I don't know. Did you find your arrow? No. Did you find any blood? Two drops. Where were you aiming? The neck. 😡😡😡 Bow hunter education is needed.

Yet another reason I have little respect for the DoW! Mandatory Bowhunter Ed! People are not born with the knowledge and many do not have suitable mentors.

In the end, if they outlaw ways to recover a deer it’s just more deer that will be killed which is what the insurance agencies want. Yes, there are people that will use these means in an illegal way unfortunately, but who in their right mind, which if your poaching you’re not, would spend 15-25k to use a drone to take a deer illegal when they can and will do it a lot cheaper.

The price you gave wasn't far off from what I had seen others quote. I seen one that $450 and if they found it they added another $100

I was just curious because I know the thermal drones can range in price from $1700-$25k and I just couldn't wrap my head around what else they do with these things for cost recovery. My pockets are like that little one in a pair of jeans so there no way I could have an expensive hobby lol. I told Dave the other day that I couldn't imagine flying a price of a used truck around lol.

My truck is probably not worth what the drone is. 😁. But my truck doesn’t entertain me like this thing does.

I can see how they can be cool and extremely exciting for some people. For me personally it's hard too justify unless I branched out and did other things with it other then just my personal use playing around. I know for me personally that in 3 years it'll be sitting on a shelf collecting dust or I'll have sold it. With the one I'm getting from Dave it might change my perspective but we shall see. I'll either be content and have it for awhile and get my money's worth of use and be done or I'll go overboard and get in a lot of trouble with the wife for another expensive hobby 🤣

Theres a huge jump in quality of drones out there too, remember that. I've owned the cheapest ones and now one of the most expensive ones and they are not comparable. It would be like comparing a hammer to a chainsaw.

I used that one once. The guy I bought it from used it once. Both times it flew it was to look for a deer. What he paid for it new, he could've paid one of these guys to come out.

They definitely all have their uses. For a recreational user who wants to fly occasionally for fun those little drones are awesome. I had hours of fun with mine and snapped some awesome landscape pictures too.
