My one compaint about them is mine doesnt give any info when i open it up

Sure it does. It has a view switch. One of the reasons the battery lasts so long in these cams is they don't sit there with a display showing picture count all day.. Until you ask it to...

Just turn off. slide the toggle to view, turn on.
