Disgusting pics of a pig...

Got the call on my way to work that she just passed. No one there to gut her out...that'll be 9.5 hours of sitting with the guts in her at 70*! Not sure how my comfort level will be... Not even sure I'll be able to dig a hole with the backhoe either.

She's about 8' under ground now. Just put the hoe back in the barn and the coyotes are screaming! I just might have to look into this snaring thing...it's only about a mile from my place and we hardly ever get coyotes. Only on pic in 3 years of running cams.

If anyone was ever interested in buying a hog to slaughter, this would be a great time to try it. They aren't worth much at the market right now. You could get one for a couple dollars over butchering cost. Call your local butcher! Not a bad way to spend some of that tax return...

All we eat is homegrown pork. We just had one butchered a couple months ago that was raised at my in-laws.

Just wondering what was the reason the owner didn't put the sow down when knowing there wasn't any hope?

My FIL raise pigs and when they butchered they saved the head for my wife to cook down for head cheese.
Anyway she's has one cooking in a big pot and the flighty neighbor lady came over and asked 'what's cooking'. The wife said a pig's head, 'ya right' she took the lid off and the head was looking at her. She yelled and was funny as hell. She even stayed and help strip the meat off the head when done.

No good under ground. Would have made one hell of a bait pile for yotes. Set it in high grass then set the snares on the trails they make to it.

Owner won't let me... I think that's why this ones effecting me. I usually just walk in and do the deed.

Kinda curious - not really my business, but... why wouldn't she let you? seems like a no-brainer if the animal can't be saved and is just suffering at that point.

Being that she went to waste, I don't think it'll wait again. She's pretty upset about how it all went down. They are still pretty new to all this and it was a learning experience for all involved.
