Doggone good dog thread

I've done that with both my pups after getting them snipped. Let them stay there for recovery. Adds to the cost but also relieved some of the stress of keeping them in chill mode for a while.

Vet called today and said he believes Cass has turned the corner. She is finally eating and drinking every time they put it in front of her. She is wagging her tail and gets up when someone approaches her. She was very detached and lethargic until this morning. Her blood count is rising too. Internal bleeding is still a high risk and he is going to keep her under medical care for a little longer. She may be ready to come home this weekend. He sent my wife a video of her from this morning. I teared up when I watched it. I hope the worst is over. Thanks for all of the support.

Free to ANY home, far far away...one slightly used neighbor's Brittany..... sibling included...if I can catch it...

Just got word that our daughter and Son in-law had to put their shepherd down.
He started life as a working pup but unfortunately had troubles breaching doors and washed out. He spent close to a year being shuffled around and neglected because he started having issues. Our SIL got word of him from a friend in Texas and he worked it out to get him to Ohio so they could nurse him back to health and foster until they could find him a suitable home.
After a month of having him my daughter said we’re keeping him.
He had a lot of issues and was very neurotic and would just pace back and forth when he got nervous
He was flat footed from living in a kennel for so long. But he was a sweet dog and was very protective of our daughter.
He developed some neurological issues in his hind quarters and got to the point of not being able to stand for very long or traverse stairs.
He got even worse yesterday and they made the hard decision to put him out of his misery.
They’re devastated at the loss and will be a long while before the sting wears off.

Blitz is on the left. We took this picture last Christmas with all the dogs when they were down.
He had a rough year and a half at the beginning of his life but had a great life after arriving at our daughter’s house.
RIP Blitzy!
And then there were two….. 😢

Simon our SIL’s first K-9 partner of 9 years was laid to rest last week. He’s been retired for a year and health issues caught up with him.
Been a rough year for him and the daughter with losing Blitz and Simon. Those K-9’s give 110% day in and day out. To the point when they’re ready to retire their plum wore out.
He had a good 10 months of being a couch potato and getting pampered. Too bad it didn’t last longer for him, he sure deserved it. RIP buddy!
