Early observations.

Huh. Who would have thought pushing to kill does with extra tags and seasons in a 1 buck state would kill off so many does and leave bucks. The bucks will soon follow the trend without does to birth them.

Crying ass shame...

The beans and corn are on the turn here as well, except on our farm. The beans were a late crop and the corn still has 2-3 weeks before it will turn. I now have cams over all my plots, so I'll get a good idea of how the transition goes. As far as acorns go, there don't appear to be many and I have't scouted the buckeyes yet. There are hardly any bucks on our farm right now, but I'm holding at least 3 adult does close, with 2 almost certainly bedding on the farm with their 3 fawns. I have all the food and now have the does, so it is shaping up to be a killer year out there...

In my two mornings of squirrel hunting very few acorns but a few more hickories. The acorns seem like they are slow too fall IMO. Our beans are turning fast and corn even faster, I'm thinking some corn will be shelled before some beans. Locally there is a big beef operation that cuts silage and I look for them too start within the next week. I'm getting pumped. As far as buck too doe ratio I'm like Phil I think the bucks will travel more do too finding a receptive doe maybe a challenge. Hate too hear the doe numbers that low cause that gonna bite us in the ass the next five years or longer. I only had the can s out 3 weeks and one took a chit and the other had 5 different bucks an 2 does one with twins and the other nothing. So yea I believe the ratio is off.
