Finelysheddeds 2012-2013 Bowhunting Log

Hopefully it will lay down a bit just before dark and they will come out of the woodwork. If not, well you can still kill 'em in the wind. I shot two of my better deer on days I shouldn't have been in a tree. Warm as heck too, so you at least have the temps on your side! Hang with it, Ric!

Yeah that!

Yeah, I agree Brock, that's why I'm still hanging in and on. I killed a nice buck on a high ridgetop at 12:30pm back in 07 and a very windy day like today sept it was in the first week in Nov.
According to intellicast it's suppose to slow down to the teens by 7:00.

SKUNKED!!! Still had a good time though. Good news is I didn't jump anything on my way in or out. I did hear dogs and squirrels start barking a good ways off and across the creek. I just think the deer weren't in the immediate area near me vs. just not moving around. IMO.

Here are some pics from the stand:

Down the shaft out to 25-30 yards in shooting window

The drop off to creekbottom below my stand to the east. I climb this bank to slip into the tree. Fuggar is STEEP!lol

I still have a cam on both ends of this creek bed which is a great travel corridor for the deer and other critters. Both have fresh batteries and set for a 15 second trigger lapse. The one cam is still over the scrape and it can only get better for the activity picking up there.
We're still a few weeks from the seeking stage so I'll just continue to bide my time watching the does and squirrels. Lol

Since 8:00 it's been like I'm sitting in the rainforest, prolly a dozen squirrels within 40 yard perimeter are tearin' up the place! Lol Can't hear for shit!

They browsed their way up to me on my downwind side and were sniffing around my entry trail at 20 yards. There was one big doe and two smaller ones but they weren't fawns. They just quietly browsed back the way most deer go which is along the finger between two cornfields towards the stand I was in last night. They were below me at 9:36am.

Saw 3 does this morning.

Heres a couple pics from this mornings hunt:

View out to the SE. Corner of standing corn where there's a nice entry/exit path entering my position on the upwind side with a good SE-S-SW wind.
