Another thing... I did some research years later because there's a place called Tunnel Hill in the area. I always liked trains. That gravel lane going thru the campground use to be a railroad line & there's a old tunnel at the end somewhere where you guys were flinging at that target. It's all caved in / blocked off now.

2017 TOO AEP Muzzy Hunt, it was cold as crap, we met, ate some great food, then did some drives with no success.

I remember meeting someone maybe the guy that made cobbler? Or something else, all I remember was him telling me how much he hated his ex wife and that she was in forum stalking and talking to guys? Hell I don’t remember if that is correct.

My first “outing” was the BEC shoot just prior to the launch of TheOhioOutdoors. Then the next one would’ve been the TOO bow shoot down at Crooked Run (Marcus’ place). That was a short but really fun get together. And I thiiinnnkk I went to all of the Mingo gatherings, but I could be mistaken. Maybe I missed the first one. Can’t remember. Haven’t missed an event at Logan yet. I’ve only gotten a “taste” of the Strouds gathering but obviously it’s a good one. Oh hell... they’re all good.

Strouds 2018 was my first. I had been on the forum for a couple years before that but hadn’t made it to an event. I had met a couple guys in various capacities but that was the first time I met “everyone “. I headed down on Friday after work and stayed until probably 11:00 before driving home in a blinding rain storm. Had such a good time I drove back down the next day and did it all over again (minus the rain storm). It was quickly apparent that this was a group of fellers I could see myself hanging out with on a regular basis. Not sure if it was in spite of or because of the unicorn and button buck roadkill gutting workshop that I kept coming back 😆. I haven’t missed a strouds or summer gathering since. They’ve become non negotiables on my annual calendar. This is truly a unique place with a great bunch of people. If you haven’t made it to an event, I can’t encourage you enough to give it a shot! I can’t promise unicorns, though. A pimp, maybe. But you will have a good time!

The very very first get together I went to with this bunch of guys was when Riverdude invited me up to his place in Ashtabula for a get-together with guys from the forum. Attendees were Riverdude, CJD3, Geezer, RedCloud, and myself. And I think OhioSam showed up for trapshooting, but didn't stay overnite, unless I'm thinking of another get-together. I can't remember what year it was.

So the funny part of the story - Jeff (Riverdude) had told me that his property had a lake for fishing, and we were going to shoot bows.
I was very new to the group and didn't know alot of people, but I was happy to be invited and looking forward to meeting other outdoorsmen, like-minded people and all. So I get there, Jeff introduces me to Jim (CJD3), and Jim starts showing me around, Jeff goes off to do something else. Jim starts talking about the property...and about it's history...and about how they do this and do that...how for years they've put up Christmas lights in such a way, blah blah blah and I start thinking to myself "Oh my God, these guys are a couple....THEY'RE GAY...WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN IN TO?!?" I didn't realize the relationship was that they were brothers, and they had houses next door to each other and to their parents on the same lane....but then I decided that what the hell, they seem like alright guys, and as long as nobody flirts with me I'll stay and shoot....Imagine my relief when I learned they were brothers LMAO
