First Yote ever.

damn nice Don , did you show them how the dog proofs worked by having them stick their finger in them? lol, we had a guy at work talked into it once but we stopped him before he set it off

Nothing in the traps this morning. But I did get half my rats and almost a third of my coon put up today. Here's a pic of them before putting them up. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1388273437.855655.jpg

Looks good at least you got a lot of work done. Those coon can be alot of scraping

The colder them coon are the easier they are to scrape! (Just in case anyone didn't know that) I was amazed at how much better it was after knowing this little tip! I like mine almost frozen kinda stiff.

2 coon and a grinner this morning. I'm thinking maybe one more really good night and them they may shut down again for a little while. A week it two and should be able to catch some boar coon out looking for love. I will probably leave my rat traps pulled until the lakes get frozen over again. No big deal being as ya get an extra month of rat trapping after coon go out.
2 yotes
21 coon
30 rats
6 grinners

Thanks Kevin!

Well the morning walk brought me a nice big boar coon in one of my DPs. Three other DPs were cleaned out, fuggin squirrels! I have been putting a golf ball on top of the DPs and they stopped cleaning them out but now they have learned to knock the golf ball off the top. Could switch to fishy baits but hate catching the grinners and occasional pole cat. Oh well. I did put four rat sets out this morning, saw some pretty promising runs in the ponds. The totals come to.....
2 yotes
22 coon
30 rats
6 grinners

Thanks Zach. As of right now all our water is open but I think its about to change with the forecast of what's coming. Maybe not though. That warm spell we had with all the rain melted just about all the ice off around here. I went from trapping runs to trapping bubble trails back to trapping runs again.

I had a mini dry spell going for a couple says but put that to rest today with a nice size coon and another rat. It was one cold walk around the trap line at first but its amazing how it warmed up just a little when I spied that coon in my DP. Haha.
2 yotes
23 coon
31 rats
6 grinners

You snaring those yotes is pretty interesting to me TOO. That is one thing I have never done but would like to give it a try. I am gonna go up to set some with Boarhead here pretty soon and am anxious to have him show me the ropes.

Yep as soon as I get over this being sick I have everything ready to go Don. Went to the doc and got some antibiotics yesterday so hopefully they will kick in soon, have been down with this stuff since last Friday.Looking like next weekend should be good to start. Keep at it and I think when you try some snares it will just be another tactic to help increase your catch and they work well in most weather conditions.

Nothing on the line tonight but some nice fresh mink tracks. So needless to say I now have two pocket sets in the creek bank baited with muskrat legs in one and sardines in the other. I am also gonna take a mink box with me tomorrow when I run my line and set it with the muskrat carcass I have if I haven't gotten the little bugger. Here's a pic of the pocket set with the muskrat legs tucked back in there.
