Goin snaring

brock....i've got a book on snares. It's called the snareman ~ introduction to the art of snaring the fox, coyote, raccoon and beaver. It's by leonard pavek who was a great snareman. It covers all snare angles including making and fixing snares. If you or anyone else is interested, i thought we could pass this one around the members and hopefully get something started which helps our passion for deer. Ya'll let me know who's next and i'll send it out asap!

meee!

Got another one today. I knew this snare would get one eventually. It was 100 yards or so from the den I found the other day. Dang thing was waiting on me like a puppy hoping for food. hehe.

Thanks for posting the pic, Joe. I gotta get my kid to figure out why I can't post from this stupid laptop...I know its a pain for you and I appreciate you doing it!

Sweet picture! I'm going to be in this game next week, my snare's showed up today.

Good Job Brock! That is a great picture...... He's sorta got that "This is gonna leave a mark" look on his face....... PRICELESS!

Ha! You are right about that! She was all mouthy, and mean till I shut the quad off and stuck my lil gun in her face. Immediately, she took on that "Oh this is gonna sting" pose. :)

Really wish we had a little snow. I found that big rascal's tracks in the mud today on the other side of the farm again. He snuck in and ran off with coon that had died a mysterious death and was serving as bait. This is one big dog...I hope I can get him, but I don't think my chances are good. When we had snow on, he missed two snares setups by 20 yards or so. I need to get back in where I killed the female today and see if I can howl her boyfriend in. She really messed up the little funnel where I caught her, and as the pic shows, there just aren't many places out there to set a snare.

This stuff sure is a good way to waste a little time till turkey season rolls around!

We have a guy around town here that is supposed to be "God-like" when it comes to trapping coyotes. Supposedly killed over 70 last year. I don't know this fella, but I've heard his name a hundred times in relation to coyote trapping. A fella I do know was just in the pizza shop. It happens that he has the same last name as the legendary trapper so I asked if they were related. "Yep, that s my dad". Hehe. Anyway, I told him what I've been up to, and he said his dad would be stopping in. I really wish I knew how some tricks for leg-hold traps as some of these wide open areas are just tough to snare. Hopefully, the living legend will clue me in so I can be a little more effective in this coyote killing adventure.

I will be more than interested in any and all info. Would even be willing to drive down if you can get him to do some hands-on training. These yotes are smarter than the fox and coons I usually dealt with.....Thanks Brock.

One of the legendary guys around here will take a ticking clock and bury it just below the surface at his trap set.....the yotes can hear the ticking underground and it sometimes is too much for their curiousity......that setup has caught him some really smart ones.
