Once in WV fishing In a kayak on the south branch. A few road checks in WV during rifle season.
Twice river bank fishing in Ohio in the 80s. Never while hunting.
 
At least a 100 times. Once was a nock on my door accompanied by a freezer check and mount check. One ticket back in 99’ for a cheeked walleye in Fremont. It didn’t stick though. They did change the wording after that, you are welcome😂.

In Alaska it was very common to get checked multiple times in a day. Lots of people do the changing of the clothes to go catch another limit. Same with getting checked in the beer mart parking lot. As long as they see a net and a cooler, expect to get checked.

Every time, the guy was an asshole and acted like I was an inconvenience to them. And they would search as if they knew I was guilty of something, they just had to find out what it was.

Another time in Fremont I opened the GW’s lunch box. Fugger just opened the cooler in the back of my Durango like he was a buddy grabbing a beer. So I did the same...he didn’t see the humor😂. Hell, I thought we was buddy’s.

So out of the 100+ times I’ve been checked. I’ve only received one ticket that didn’t result into anything.

only 2 time, both in the same year, maybe ‘82 or 3. First in Canada, we were up there moose hunting and in the middle of the day was out in a boat fishing. A float plane landed by us. 2 people had to hunt moose together and 1 of our party stayed in camp to take a nap. The game warden was a little concerned that he was hunting by himself but was very polite and professional. A few weeks later we were deer hunting in ohio and driving in a blazer from one place to the next. A Division of Wildlife vehicle pulled us over. 2 guys, claimed to be detectives out Cuyahoga county proceeded to grill us and accuse us of everything. They were complete assholes, it was the worst experience I ever had with an LEO.

1:30 uhm sit n on a camp stool changing my boots - car doors open - trunk open - gun leaning against car action open - wlo rolls in - i said hello - he grunted - he started like crab walkin around car glancing in - i said if ya want to look in the car go ahead - ya don't have to creep around like a chicken theif - he walked over said let me see your license and tag - looked at them and left

Between DNR, Sheriffs, coast guard all on the water I’ve lost track of em.
In the field a half dozen times. Hunt public land enough when I was younger and parking lots were easy fodder for them.
Rabbit hunting, squirrel hunting and of course deer hunting. Only had one bad experience which involved a ticket from an asshole known in a county both @Ohiosam and I inhabited.... Didn’t fight it just paid the fine. Court cost was 4x the price of the ticket at the time. That was circa 1989 timeframe, nothing since.
 
3 I think. One time I was with a few guys during ML season. We were kinda scattered & one of the guys wasn't wearing orange. We didn't catch it. Wardens from the road 200 yards out saw him. They also saw him looking at them thru his scope. Dumb ass. He tried changing coats with another & got busted. These guys came in on us from all directions & I didn't know what was going on. He had to go to federal court for not wearing orange.
 
Lost count , several on Erie. Once we were 1 perch over, didnt do anything since there was 6 of us. Got investigated once for legally killing a monster 8 point of 90 inches because I bought my tag earlier that day. GW came to my parents house every day for about a month. Resthaven public land I believe is the most patrolled public land in Ohio. As a man child the same GW constantly thought I was older and needed a fishing license, so glad when that prick in Erie either got fired, resigned, left whatever
 
Yeah to many lol! If you hunted ducks in the early to mid 80's in Lucas county you for sure knew the warden Gary Stevens. Checked going in then coming out and a lot while out in the marsh from him. Got to know Marty Baer from wood county also. Never ticketed just a friendly license and plugged shotgun checks.

The reason they came to my house was because I bought a NR license earlier in the year to coyote hunt and then a resident license once I was in the state for 6 months. Even after I showed him when my house recorded, he still insisted on being an ass. So because I followed the law, I was guilty of something...
