Junk. Never use these things. If a can light or something comes with them on the ends cut those bastards off and use a wire nut. The same on switches and outlets that have the push in wire holes, use the screw with a wire loop.

I’ve read and heard to never use the holes on outlets but nothing about the orange sure in connectors but it is same principle.

I am not a fan of the push in connectors either way. It always seems that I can’t get one wire to seat all the way.

HVAC man was just here to finalize the install. Brazed the line-set, pull a vacuum, release the factory refrigerant, and add refrigerant to top it off. $300. All told I'm $4,023 for the complete replacement. Took me about 9 hours total which includes referencing the manuals and finding my damn tools. Saved 3-5k depending on the quotes I received for replacement. I still have a couple things to button up like securing the lineset to the wall outside etc.

Funny story. Homie cut the unit on and tested the heat and cool before he left, but not knowing what temp I wanted he left the thermostat off. When he left I went up and set it to 68 with the indoor temp being 62. I went back downstairs and hopped on a meeting. I'm sitting there and all the smoke alarms in the house start going off. I flew out of my office to the kitchen and grabbed the extinguisher, I think I only hit 3 steps of 17 going upstairs. Flung the door open and it smelled like burning plastic. Ran to the unit and it was ok, checked the vents and they were ok. Opened the unit and checked the wiring and it was ok. I forgot that on a heat-pump if you demand more heating than a 3 degree difference vs current temp it kicks on the emergency heating elements which is basically a hair drier on steroids. The first use they will smell like crap as they burn off the machine oils and any insulation particles that fell from the plenum during install. I just replaced all the detectors so they were fresh and ready to roll. Good news is I know they're all interconnected.
