I don't know Twireman. Let's wait and see. Until I see a picture and get an okay to post it, my lips are sealed. There are many guys on here with kids that hunt.

Word is it's a munster too.

Not what I was told. Should be a nice deer for a youngin' but don't go making the rumors bigger than they are. :smiley_chinrub:

Just spoke with our fellow TOOzer and he said the deer tucked tail and took off on a dead sprint "like a thoroughbred". They picked up blood after 100-150yds and once they found blood it was a steady heavy stream. Not sure how far they trailed it, but sounded like at least 500yds. "Perfect quartering away shot" from what I was told and it is hard to believe how far it went so far. Taking the youngster home to bed and trailing it some more prior to calling it a night. I told him I can bring Hank out to work the trail tomorrow after noon if needed. Hopefully this won't be necessary. Sounds like the buck will bleed out before it comes to this if nothing else.

This is all I have for now. Told him I am up working on September sales tax reports and to call me with updates. Keep your fingers crossed fellas. Going to be a sleepless night for a lil' hunter.

I was just told it was big... Same deal.. good blood, tracked 500 yards so far. I texted him and told him he had rain in the Ft Wayne Indiana area. With good blood that far on the trail he can;t be much farther.

That was what I told him. Given the rain moving in, and I think he should ignore what everyone says. "When in doubt, back out". I don't think so. Not this time. He thinks the crossbow bolt is still in there. He has awesome blood. I told him if it were me, I would almost be tempted to continue pursuing rather than to back out. If the bolt is in there, they haven't bumped him yet, and the blood trail continues, you might as well keep pushing him until he bleeds out. Gotta figure with the run he has been on tonight, the adrenaline pumping in that buck is going to make the meat less than desirable to eat anyway. lol

Keep pushing him until he bleeds out, and make it your jerky/summer sausage deer for the year. rotflmao

I was told it was a respectable 8pt from what they could tell. Nothing like what Daddy has on the wall, but a nice deer for a first buck.

I agree... If I have good blood and am 500 yards in without jumping him or losing blood. In my opinion that deer is going to die walking.. If i don't loose blood there is no reason to back out and have to track the rest tomorrow. Sounds like it may have been a liver hit the way the deer is acting. Hauled ass, bleeding heavy, not bedding down, etc.. I don't think tracking will hurt as the deer isn;t going to stop.

I hate to keep talking and stealing the thunder for him. He said he did have some bubbles in it. Both of us thought maybe a single lunger. Mule kick, tucked tail, dead run. . .dead deer walking it sounds. The last game plan I heard from him was tuck the little hunter into bed, head back out to last point of blood. He could tell which direction the buck was running, so his plan was to follow the blood through the standing bean field to the next patch of woods. If the buck made it to the woods he was backing out until morning. My money is on a dead buck in the bean field.

If no luck, I will load up Hank tomorrow afternoon. I would help him in a heartbeat. . . as long as I can take care of my stuff tomorrow first which absolutely has to be handled tomorrow.lmao Submitting two of the snow plow bids I received last week. Just can't miss the deadlines for bidding or I would be there in the morning.

1245 and I have heard nothing. Guess we will all have to stay tuned tomorrow. I am going to bed.

I hope. Dog box is loaded into my old dually for a road trip just in case. Would love to hunt tonight, but would sit it out without hesitation if my phone rings asking to bring Hank.

Beat me to it. Was going to say "Looks like there is going to be a happy ending to the story for the young hunter!"
