Let's talk tires ( again!)

It is so funny seeing all these reviews and different experiences! My dad had the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2 and they wore down very quick. I can't give mileage specifics, but it was alarming. Way back in this thread, I stated I had the Yokohama Geolander AT/S and 2 belts seperated at once on me. Now I did have a set of Cooper ST tires on my Dakota I loved. They are very popular in Australia for their road types, but not very well known here.

I guess this is like anything where brands come in. We have all had experiences and they make us choose based on the info on hand and emotions do come in a little.

Same here. I had a set of Revo 2’s on one of my previous trucks and they were the worst wearing tire I’ve ever owned. They wore quick and they wore extremely uneven. I owned a set of Geolanders that did the same thing. The only tires I’ve actually ever “liked” on my trucks after they were time to replace were BFGs and Coopers.

I ended up doing some looking and found the Toyo Open Country AT's that were not gettable. Took a while to get the wheels and center caps, but worth the wait. This is not the sort of thing I usually indulge myself with, but this is an upgrade that I'm happy I made to this 7 year old truck with only 80K miles on it. Much appreciate all the input on tires, fellas.

About that time for me…currently have BFG 245/75/17 ko2 on my Tacoma that have served me well. They are a bit noisy.

looking at going back with the ko2 or giving the Toyo open country or wild peak at3 a try

I go on a handful of long road trips each year in the truck for bird camp so a reasonably quiet and comfortable ride is important. On the same hand, some of those KS / IA roads can turn to snot pretty quick so I need to have decent traction.

Any new opinions? Sounds like @jagermeister would have me go ko2 and @giles toyo?

I really like the Toyo’s on my truck. I was willing to trade more road noise for better off road traction, but I have been pleasantly surprised by how not noisy these tires are at highway speed.

Yup, still a Toyo guy. I even have the mechanic at work putting them on our work trucks now with great reviews so far.

Toyo Open Country AT 255/70 R17. A little over a year on them and could not be happier. Easy to say it's the best tire I've ran to date vs. Goodyear, BF's and Firestone

I’ve been super happy with my Falken Wild Peak AT3s. Very quiet on the highway and excellent performance in mud/rain/snow. Definitely exceeded my expectations in a 2wd truck. Don’t think you can go wrong with any of the aforementioned though

I'll be putting a second set of Toyo Open Country 35/12.5/20 R/T's on my rig within the next year. 40k mile warranty and I've got almost 60k on them with plenty of tread left. Tread wear has been perfect with timely rotations.

That is what our mechanic has been putting on our company trucks. I have a set of Nitto on mine and they don't compare.

Also a Toyo fan had great luck with them . On a side note my 96 stepside came with a set of Ironman all country's on it and I can't believe how even these tires have worn and how much tread is still on them it baffles me sometimes and to be honest I'm not the most solid on constant tire rotations

I’ve been running the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac with great results. Over 5 years 65k miles on them and plenty of tread life left.
