We still in the tree but, I will be posting something else from the boys.

Back in the tree, new spots for me and Hunter, Dj in same spot.
Dawn broke to find us surrounding turkeys in trees. No shots was offered so after they boogered out, it was time for deer. Few minutes later Hunter text and says “shot that bitch in the heart”! I don’t know why he’s so mad at them
. A little while later I had a basket rack walk by. A little after that I catch running deer, I text dj and said they coming to ya. About 100” buck chasing 4 does. They blow past him and coming for me but turn and go back. Dj is able to stop what he thought was a doe and runs an arrow through it and watches it fall 30 yards after the shot. Hunters doe went 80 yards. Them grim reapers put a hurt on them.
we have a day and a half after this evening to get it done. East and south winds with warm temps. Not looking good.

Just passed on a good doe. Looking for a buck but will take a doe later if it comes to that. We love eating wild game.

We quartered it up and put in ice chest on ice. It’s how I’ve always done it. Usually cut it up after a week. Tonight we doing 12 hr backstrap. From walking to grill in 12 hours

Directly on ice. No I keep on ice until a cut up portions and freeze. Aging deer meat isn’t like beef, there is no fat in the meat.

Total of 9 deer seen this morning. Weather sucks, we suck and Missouri sucks! Headed south bound.

We made it home at 3am. Dj had to work today to save a vacation day and use in December. He started his new job late last year and only got 3 vacation days for this year.
looking back we had a great time, well worth spending the time with my two boys. Even though we didn’t kill any good bucks, we seen a bunch of deer. Experienced some new stuff together and will be lasting memories. Yes I was frustrated because I wanted my boys to be successful hunting public land, which normally it’s the hardest thing to do. Anyway thanks for following, our season is about to start.
Primitive weapons open this weekend, duck season starts to the south of me. The following weekend rifle starts and the whole state opens to ducks. Fishing is on fire but I couldn’t give two shits about. Let the fun begin.
So my plan is to hunt deer and a lot more ducks. Pearl is in her prime and I want to put her on plenty birds. Hope we get some this year like we supposed to have every year.
