Too much trouble to bring the pot, burner and propane tank. Then I need to bring water cause camp water ain’t the best. I’ve brought crabs for people that live around there and even boiled them at their house.
If I was to bring some, I will boil first, then pack on ice and serve them cold.
Back in the stand on my property. Had scrapes on the main road near the gate, first time I’ve seen that. Wind is blowing out of the north and we have a full moon and high pressure. Let’s see what this afternoon brings.
Only seen a yote so far, I tried to get on it but it slipped off the lane. Biologists claim our doe are bred on December 15-16 but we never see a pre rut. Our bucks will start showing around the 23rd or later.
Tomorrow is our annual lottery hunt on the NWR. We have 9 of us hunting. Hopefully we paint some leaves and have a safe hunt. I will report back sometime after lunch, hopefully w a bunch of smiling faces. 4am comes early. Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend.
I can’t report as we have zero phone service where we hunting.
Got up late this morning, about half hour before shooting time. Apparently my phone has the only alarm. Walked in where no trucks were. Cody had this years fawn under him and Dj has two hogs out of range. I didn’t see anything and picked their tree for them
Hunter hunted but didn’t see anything and is currently hunting this evening. Barry hunted this morning, said he shot at a doe but missed.... same story different day .
Me and Dj went to the property to put out two more cams and some gold dust. We also finished up the duck blind.
It’s a relax, stay at the camp kind of rainy day. Last night we went to the store for some provisions. Picked up a family box of Popeyes chicken. Woke up to heavy rain at 6am and it’s gonna be off and on till later when the sky falls out. The next few days should be under 30 degrees. Hopefully the wife drives up tomorrow to spend a few days together. I plan on getting her to sit in the tower w me for a hunt or two.
We weathered the storm today. Had tornados to the nw of us and maybe some small ones se of us. Both about a hour away. Temps are dropping and rain just quit. Should be a good morning with wind around 12-13 out of the nnw. Both of my boys will be hunting. Will report tomorrow.
Let the painting begin. 41 degrees, heavy low clouds with 14 mph nnw wind w a heavy mist. Got my boys in the stand and mom coming to the camp a little after noon. Good to have them all together doing what we love to do.
From what I could tell the big boys are locked down as yesterday is supposed to be the day the does conceive according to the study. Just need the right doe to walk out. Good luck to all hunting today and be careful up there w all the ice.
