On the crab boat this morning. Dj trying to kill with bow and Hunter w a podnah in his duck lease.

Headed in now on the crab boat. Probably Caught almost 4K pounds of crabs. Dj had a 4pt under him and elected to pass on him. Hunter had a decent hunt killing I think almost a dozen.

Hunter hunted this morning w terrible conditions to duck hunt in…..imagine that! Killed one gadwall (grey duck) as we call them down south. Hot, no wind and very foggy. He’s currently setting some coyote traps on property. Where is coyote ken when you need him. Dj at work and I’ve been finishing up my 2 skull mounts and loggerhead turtle shells.

Went good. Caught almost 4K pounds. It’s in a post in a few post back. Going tomorrow and then going to camp

Back at the camp, got a late start because it was raining water monkeys at 5:30. Woke up about 20 minutes till shoot time and busted ass trying to make it. Was about 10 minutes late. Did manage to kill 2 palmetto parrots.
After I met up with Hunter and went to the property to check yote traps. Didn’t catch any. I took a walk by the gate and found a participation trophy. Probably shot or hit off the road last year.

Made a duck hunt with Hunter. Got to the pond early this time. Pond was 90x50 so we split up. Had a pair come in and never left. Pearl did good work. Then had 5 fly over and left. Then two came in and rolled out. We never even shot after the first 2 birds were killed. Nothing else came in so the game plan was to walk to the other hole. Told Hunter to sneak up and try to finish the limit as I walked down where they fly out most times. Waited for Hunter to shoot but sat there about 20 minutes waiting. Figured he was trying to kill some w one shot. Finally he shot 3 or 4 times killing 3. I didn’t get a shot.

Haven’t posted in awhile so here goes. My Cajun podnahs came up and put a beat down on the deer w primitive killing 7 deer in two hunts. Dj been in nwr sitting all day w nothing big enough that he wanted to kill. Hunter killed a spike at daybreak thinking it was a doe with his bow. I’ve been hunting the property and made some piss poor duck hunts not yielding anything. Dj hit a spike w truck last night 200 yards from the campground. No real damage to his Tacoma.
I did have a trespasser buck show up a couple nights ago. Ain’t seen him since.
He’s in trouble if he shows himself.

Haven’t updated in some time, honestly don’t know where to start.
So not much killed but lots of effort hunting was put in. Tried duck hunting, me and Hunter at different spots yielding a fat fucking zero. I hunted the property and seen deer most hunts but did get skunked 3 sits in a row. Front came through and second rut was on. One day I seen 8 bucks and 3 does. Did see what I thought was a shooter. Hunted morning and evening w nothing to show for it.
Hunter put many miles in the nwr looking for something good to hunt. He took his shotgun to walk around and shoot a hog in which he did. Stayed the whole day covering over 5 miles and had a good buck walk past him at 30 yards. The buck never seen him and kept walking. Next morning he was in tree w the bow )its bow only there) and had some does coming to him when he seen a small buck coming from another direction headed for the does. Behind the does was a good buck. He ended up sticking the good buck at 20 yards.
Hunter buddy was up so we took him to the property. He killed a big doe sitting in same stand with Hunter.
Yesterday I went to a buddy’s place to help him fill some dmap tags. We killed 4 does.
This morning I got up and went to the nwr to shoot some wood ducks. 3 came in and I killed one. 5 minutes later 2 more came in and all 3 took a ride to the camp.
I went home before this weather hits and have 4 deer to process. Called tomato Joe and he picked up 8 front quarters. Will process the rest tomorrow hopefully. Hunter elected to stay at the camp and has a friend coming up. I will probably go up Tuesday if no black ice is on the road.
Oh wednesday at 9am the 10 pt made his second appearance but in daytime. Hunter hunted the gate but never seen him.

We’ve had a great season. Dj will go after he gets off work Monday morning. He is determined to kill a good buck on public. It’s usually a rare occasion and I have yet to do it w a bow. Hunter has done it a few times and Dj had opportunities but nothing went his way. Dj don’t get the time in the woods like Hunter, he works two full time jobs. Me…well I kinda gave up on bow hunting the public when I can drive my atv to my heated blind and watch deer almost every sit. My back killing me wont let me do it anyway. After Sunday we have a week left of the deer season. We have a bunch of tags but don’t need the meat (freezers are full). But we can hunt for horns and donate to friends and family.
Our trip to Venice was screwed by the weather event. Can’t and won’t go down the Mississippi River to the gulf, it would be ill advised and downright dangerous. No game is worth any risk.
I will do a full recaps of the season once it’s over. Like always thanks for following. Seems like I’m posting the same crap so if yall are tired of it just say so. Until then, this is our journey and I’m happy to share w like minded friends.

Well finally got done processing 4 does. Grinded 2 meat tubs of ground, and vacuum sealed it, plus back straps, loins and hearts. Even pulled out 15# of meat to make 30 dz hot tamales.
