Just got the girls on ice.

Set up on a low area between two palmetto ridges. Was about to get down and heard some palmettos moving. Stood up and I could make out what I thought was a 60# hog, then I seen some babies and thought “good deal a sow)! They worked their way towards the mud/watering hole. Another 60# was in tow. First one gave me a shot at 30 yards and hit the release. Arrow hit back and pigs went away from me but the gut shot one came back towards me 20 yards in the palmettos w no shot. Then the other sow came back in an opening near the hole and busted that one. Minute later the first hog gave me another shot and I let it fly. Both hogs were found less than 40 from my tree. Donated 2 arrows but that’s the cost of killing hogs most times. Both was around 120# give or take.

No go for Hb. Seen 2 fawns, coons, heard 4 different sets of hogs in palmettos and one grey fox. Also said had a few wood ducks come in after sunset. He said tomorrow’s mission is to walk/hunt till he finds where all the animals are. Trust me when I say, he will put at least 10 miles of tracks down. Me, well I’m going to sit my gate road on the property to kill a regular yote that’s been showing up every morning crossing the bridge. 22 mag will bark if he shows.

gonna check the lines in a few. Will report back tomorrow.

Well I think I fed 6 million skeeters this morning w my thermacell not 200 yards away in my truck. I did see an otter cross and some squirrels. A coon didn’t fare out so well.

Hb just got back to the camp saying he walked almost 6 miles with not much knowledge gained. He did kill a copperhead 100 yards from the truck coming back.

I ran the 7 lines I had out, none had bait on the hooks but I did manage to catch about a 2# blue. Gonna need more than that to heat some grease. Hb plans to go sit a tree where he put me a few years ago and killed 2 big boars on opening morning. Me well, you probably already know, gonna run and rebait around 6 and start a fire. Maybe drink a beer or 2 and grill some deer meat burgers.

Just made it home. Hunter hunted this morning slipping around w the bow. He sent me a short video of a 100# pig he killed deep in. Asked him if he needed help and his response was at the truck with the straps. If you’re wondering, hogs are an issue, good issue if you ask me. I don’t have them on the property yet, but if and when they do I won’t mind the extra targets and meat. The meat is better than deer. Hurts me to say it, but it’s true.

My dad’s best friend called me at 3am and said the fish were biting off his pier w lights. I pulled in and first cast started catching white trout, a few speckle trout and redfish. He’s 83 and still the outdoorsman that he always was.

We headed out again just to swap traps out that are grassed up. Got a 100 on the boat, will throw them out, pick up the grassy 100 and run 50 more. Everyone got to be in early. Except me my schedule is free.

Hunter is going to the camp this evening. I opted out to help my buddy on the boat and make some Midwest money for our November trip. Probably go up next weekend. The following weekend is youth hunts and will be bringing 3 boys to hopefully kill. Nothing better than that
