These umbrellas are the real deal let me tell ya!
Bought mine @Rual King after the end of last season super cheap.
Anyhow,
I FU€£ED UP this morning damn it!
Right at daybreak and after the rain let up to almost a complete stop, I see a real nice looking 8 point Buck trailing a big Doe out into the field.
Then I see another Doe near them.
Then another Buck, also in the same area, which confused me for a second cause the first Buck was behind a tree apparently when I was trying glass all of them together.
So yes, 'TOO' my surprise, there were a total of two decent Bucks and two Does approximately 300 yards due North of me within the 100 acre CRP field during sunrise.
All of them were grazing roughly 20-30 yards apart from each other for about 10-15 minutes.
Both the Bucks kept a very close eye on the first big Doe. Where ever she went, both Bucks followed.
Then that big Doe started to make her way towards me, zigzagging through the Bryers & CRP.
Finally, it appears that she's going to make it to me, then she stops all of sudden about 80 yards shy.
Something caught her attention.
IDK what it was, but there was a stand off for a few minutes in the field.
Mind you, I'm downwind of all of them with a little bit of a cross wind.
I think there was something in the field I couldn't see, but I have no clue what it might have been.
The two Bucks were right behind her still, just standing there looking in the same direction as that Doe, towards the East.
Then all of sudden, she takes off in a full run headed straight for me towing the two Bucks right behind her.
As soon as she exited the CRP field and hit the lane, she cuts left rather continuing straight forward towards me into the wooded area.
The two Bucks right on her heels, but I was able to get the bigger Buck to stop briefly at my best window with loud bleat and I let an arrow fly,,,
Yup, straight over his front back area @38 yards is what I had my bow set for - FUGG!!!
A complete miss.
It happen so fast, I think he was more like 34 or 35 yards tops rather than what I thought he'd be.
Anyhow, without skipping a beat, he continued chasing that Doe along with the other Buck right behind him as if nothing happened.
I continued watching them make a big circle basically, around me, down through the woods, then down towards the creek bottom, never to be seen again.
Oh-wel,,, that's hunting.
It was exciting to say the least.
Maybe they'll make their way back hopefully.
But, I'm not entirely sure how much more I'll be hunting today.
I've got some errands to take care of.
It's still raining evening though I'm staying fairly dry.
The creek sounds like a raging river at this point.
I think I'm ready for gun week!
