The does got half way across the bean field to me and caught wind of something on the other side of field. They trotted right by and couldn't stop them. There saga continues
Skunked. Only seen squirrels this evening. Looking like it's going to be heavy fog overnight as it was starting to get foggy on my way out of the woods. Might not go back until tomorrow afternoon. Depends on temps thought lol.
I went out tonight. Ended up seeing 3 doe and 3 buck. The one buck was an 8 point that was a tweener for a shooter in PA. I ended up letting him walk. Kinda glad that he didn't stay in range long. LOL.
My oldest, Lucas and I, went out for his first deer hunt. He's 4. He's been turkey hunting in a blind but, he begged me to go into a tree. He spends all summer climbing into ladder stands, so I figured if I built him a harness, he could do it. So. I fashioned a harness for him and we headed out. I couldn't believe it. He sat for HOURS and was quiet and content without a phone. Lol. Only a couple packs of fruit snacks. So, fast forward, at around 1900, he's starting to get ansy, and we're getting ready to get down. Two does walk out at 25 yards, he freezes and hits my arm. "Dad, you better shoot one". LMAO. Gotta listen to the kid! So I draw back and settle in....BAM. Lucas drops my range finder on the stand. Lol. Lead doe turns a bit and looks at us. I let one loose. (picture doesn't look good, but hit a bit back, liver and exited the rear leg) Ive never seen him so happy! "you smoked it dad!!!! Let's go get it". After sitting more a bit, and almost having a meltdown cuz he wanted to blood trail the deer, we find her about 50 yds away. Way to go Grim Reaper Pros 2"!
