It took a while but a 1 point showed up and kept looking behind him. Then 5 bucks came in a line, the best being a 120” busted up 8. A split brow 10, 8, half rack 4 and a small shed buck. Then a spike and doe/shed walked in. Tyler’s Uber service showed up just after dark to bail me out.

Hoping to get out this weekend. Looking at evening hunts but it's going to be COLD and WINDY. Saw deer moving this morning for the first time in a while. Very consistent movement in the evening. Haven't deer hunted since Muzzleloader. When have you guys been seeing the activity?

The last hour and a half of daylight has been great. They may be active at other times, but we have only been out in the evenings.

im not seeing jack in the mornings. Seen midway deer here and there. But almost every evening the herds are coming out in the fields during shooting light. Some days they start earlier than others but for the most part right when the sun sets in that 30mins of last light they've been all venturing out. 1st wind direction change today in a long time I'm hoping it moves them a different direction this evening.

I’ll be taking my buddy out Saturday for one last crack at getting him his first deer. I freshened up the golden nuggets with a mother lode last Saturday right before all the weather moved in. Hoping to slip in Saturday afternoon for the last couple hours and make our ambush. I told him anything but does are fair game. I’m not trying to have him do a C section for his first gut job 😆. Shoot, I hope he shoots the biggest buck in the neighborhood. I think I’m more excited than he is lol.

I didn't see a deer until 5:30 Tuesday evening, but once they got moving, they were all over the place. I had deer approach me from three different directions. try it again tonight in different spot that is practically a sure bet with a south wind.

It's going to start snowing soon.Tracking a deer in falling/blowing accumulating snow sucks badly. I'm very good at talking myself out of hunting but I would hate hit one not perfect. Anyone else going out in it?

I whiffed on a buck during bonus gun in the exact conditions you speak of. I was so incredibly thankful it was a full miss and not a marginal hit for this exact reason. Followed his tracks across a cut bean field, maybe 150-200 yards to make sure it was a full miss. When I went to backtrack to my spot, our prints were barely distinguishable. It was a true learning experience for me.

Thank God I missed that deer!!!! This was on the way home after my wife picked me up. I'll get my truck tomorrow. That lead doe was smart picked me off from the get go. Not bad, but caught movement and was Nervous until I shot at a different deer. Probably could have waited but the the head doe was going to get me she was going to circle around for wind. Deer was at 35 I think it sailed over her back. No harm no foul. It least I got a shot.

I had a fun hunt tonight. I would have had some great pictures of a dozen deer right under me if my damn phone wasn't ailing. got another fucking automatic update from Apple last night, and I forgot to undo all the shit that gets turned on with an update and sucks my battery dry in no time. with 1% battery left, I shut it off just in case I actually needed the phone. In total I had 19 sightings, but I think three were repeats. had a doe with twins coming in right at 5:00 and that bitch spotted me somehow from 40 yards away. had to have seen me move as they were coming with wind at their backs. they turned tail and trotted back down into the drainage. 45 minutes later a doe with twins came from the exact same place where they had come from the first time, and surely were the same three. I could have shot at least 8 different deer tonight at less than 10 yards, including a legally antlerless spike. I nearly killed that deer back in November one day. total of 5 bucks, one very impressive 4x3 with a broken eye guard. I don't think I saw that buck any other time this season. I think he's 2 1/2, but he'd easily make 125"+ if his brow tine wasn't broken. the one he had was about 6" long. a skipper 6, and two skipper half racks, one a 3pt the other a 4. I was just enjoying watching them too much to shoot one. glad I didn't, too, because as soon as my foot hit the ground at about 6:25 it cut loose and walked out in a white out. at one time I had 12 deer within 15 yards of me. all the fun, none of the mess. ;)

Dang! Just snow stuck?
I tried getting out in the field where it's the 7 inches of snow we got and didn't make it far enough off the road where the plow and drifting happened got snow stuck like truck frame is sitting on top of the snow. I'm 15 to 20 yrds off the road. No plows are out as it turned to complete shit at dark so I'll be waiting till tomorrow.
