Weather and rut activity the last 10 years or more just haven't been great atleast in my areas. It use to be most doe's would come in all at once and for 3-4 days was crazy action, then 30 days later the rest would. Now it's like soft porn, you kinda think your seeing the action but is it really happening, I don't know

Got in the stand a little late (basically only a few before shooting light). On the walk in i used my thermal and could see deer in the woods to my left a I'm sitting now and two feeding on the crop strips past that.

This stand is nicely situated. Almost anything cruising from the different stands of woods should be at least seen and it overlooks a prime movement corridor. So if it's on this side of the farm and moving i should see it. Downsides are the damn cows that are grazing in the same area. I'm in a stand of shagbark hickory and oaks so the squirrels are unreal.

I've seen one cat, cows and countless squirrels and birds, that's it.

Is it the weather? early lockdown (Ashland cty)? this is only my second year attempting bow hunting and hunting the rut so i don't have a good baseline on what to expect.
Weather has to have something to do with it but still..mornings have been high 30’s, low-mid 40’s and I have still barely seen much in the morning. No chasing, bucks walking with no urgency. Sitting in a tree from November 4th to November 9th, hunting various travel corridors, this seems odd. Worst rut action I can remember.

Best I’ve had for a while with the exception of today. That’s the luck factor that plays into it.

My cousin shot this guy in Harrison Co. last night. Other than that, movement has been very slow down here.

I had my crossbow almost to the ground when over the hill came 5 does running with a nice tall basket rack 8 point in pursuit.

Quickly pulled it back up while assessing the buck as he stopped broadside at inside 40 yards. He got a pass but it was cool and even cooler to hear him grunt back when i grunted to stop him.

They ran up past where i was yesterday and I probably would have shot one of the does had i been sitting there and they walked through a nicely as they just did up there.

deer #1 popped out waited for the combine to get far by is now going back in the corn. Debating to either walk behind the combine or set up 🤔
