Live from the stand 2021/22

Third time I could have shot this deer from this stand.

Arg. Doe came running through the field like she was being chased. 5 minutes and nothing behind her. I decided to rattle. Get the rattle bag ready and there’s Ocho in the woods across the field looking at me. Just walked off. He’s the best resident buck we have. Came back smaller as a 5 year old. 135ish

Not a fan of bow hunting in the rain. Yet, here I am. Off and on showers. A gap until 8-9pm. Then rain tonight. Feels deery. Have a shooter that has been inconsistent but more visible lately. Get him while he is cruising is my best shot. Not a lot of does around. He has been more visible due to this. Just zero pattern. So what do we do? Sit as often as possible. Wait for a stroke of good fortune.

In. Massive new rub down over the hill from here, unfortunately downwind. If the old adage is correct, a buck walking downhill made it, meaning he's got to get by me first. Little warm, but a good wind and plenty of food/does around. Another low impact sit until this front pushes through, then it's time to push into the core of the farm. The Funky Fork was in here last night, so we'll see if we can lay eyes on him this evening. Looks like I might get wet, but it was worth a shot!

One thing's for sure, a fella could burn up a gun barrel out here shooting doves. They're all over that cut corn!
