31 yards!!! I had the target buck. Was chasing a doe up the ridge. She hit the top and eased off into a thicket and he literally stopped, stood in the same spot behind a beech tree for 10/12 minutes until I lost all light. He then moved another 5/6 yards, opened a scrape and then proceeded to run into the thicket! Shortly after I heard the doe and him leave down the other side of the ridge At Mach speed! Just got back to the truck and am preparing to go back in there in the morning. One hell of an exhilarating sit! So close, but feels like so far!!

This might of been me...not Mason. I remember we chuckled about the one all bent up one you handed me. Seems like I put it in my mind to get you some. But I can't remember if I did or not.
No, it was my knuckle head kid. I found two sets, one for each of our buck decoys. I told him to leave that set with the decoy. And for some unknown reason he also cut off the string I used to make it easier to stake down. He will be home tomorrow. I will get answers. They won’t be logical, but I’ll get em.

Had this one go out the other end of the woods I was in tonight. I was hunting the east side and he went out the northwest corner. Woods is small but pretty thick. I know he was bedded there. May have to relocate the stand..2nd time a good one has went out the other end.

Or try it in the morning and catch him J-hooking into his bed.

East Wind they said.. weather guessers! .. Ratchet Hollow faces East so that's a great time to go -- but no air moving yet. I gotta wait for the thermals light up to get in.

I’m in. Took the kids to school and daycare so I could have the rest of the day to hunt. Walked out at 9:00 am and saw 4 does along the neighboring field edge. Shortly after, as I got to within 50 yards of my stand, my target buck appeared in the open about 75 yards behind them. He kept tabs on them for a bit and then slipped back into the woods. He was only a couple hundred yards away so I guess I’m settling in here for the remainder of the day. Wish I would’ve brought some lunch. Lol
